Monitor: 1x 28" or 2x 21" I am gonna get a new monitor, and saw a decent looking 28" from Hanns G (no I never heard of them either) that is at the top but still im my budget - around < €300 or < $400. It got decent reviews, form 45 it got 2 bad - display problems after a few months, but guarantee for 3 years - and the rest were pretty good. It has a max resolution of 1980 x 1200, which I was advised to get, as I am getting it for multitabling. But next week a sale is going on with 21+1/2" monitors from Packard Bell - Acer - and I was thinking, maybe 2 of them= Cause 2 cost a bit less than one 28". They only have 1980 x 1080 resolution, but I am thinking one 28" 6 tables, or two 21 and one half inch maybe 4 each? Thought on this? thanks BTW, my grafix card will handle 2 monitors, I run 2 now but 1 19" and 1 17". I have a hard time seeing 4 games on my 19", so am I wrong thinking it will be a LOT better on a 21 1/2"?

personally, I like the 2 monitor setup. That is what I have now. I set up my poker client, hem, etc on one and then put my tables on the other. Allows some form of sanity to my insanity. I also run ninja to move a table which has action I want to see to a blank spot on my 2nd monitor. I am running a 21 for my tables and a 19 for my accessories. Makes sense for me.

Resolution matters. On a 1980x1200 screen you can fit 4 FTP tables tiled at default size (800x600). You can't do the same on a screen that's only 1080 pixel tall. You might want to look around for a couple smaller monitors that support 1980x1200 rather than just getting 1 but I would think twice before getting anything less that that resolution.

I have had a hanns-g 21' 1920x 1080 monitor for a year. works just fine, just don't like where the power button is, but thats trivial. I payed $350+shipping for a 28 TV 1920x1200 res with HDMI x2, VGA, Component, and composite inputs plus it has an analog/digital tuner and speakers built in. It would make a great PC monitor. It is slightly thicker than LCD monitors. I personally would take 2 x 21' monitors over 1 28 in.

Thanks for the answers everyone. I have also been browsing different areas on the web, and I think I will nix the idea of 2x21 since they are 1980 x 1080 and the 1980 x 1200 seems to be a must have from most multi tablers. My grafix card (Radeon 3400 series) has 1980 x 1200 as max resolution in its specs, but in my ATI catalyst control panel I only see 1920 x 1080 as max resolution, so will maybe need a new card. I looked the specs up in the net, and my PC was a bundle deal so the card may be a bit older than the ones in the specs I am reading. My 28" is also a Hanns G so good to know you like yours joker. It on sale, < $400, and max 1980x1200, and I can still run my 19" as a 2nd, tho it is a cheaper LG and has max res at 1280x1024 but I can have my poker lobby up there, and my notepad, so I think I will opt for the 28" and in time can always add another if my multi table plans dont go TOO south on me.....lol

Yes it is one large or 2 small. I meant as a second one my 19" that I use now. So I will have the 28 as my game screen and the 19 as my lobby etc. screen. I can only really afford to buy 1, but the two 21" are the same price as the one 28". So I was thinking the two, but I think the one 28 is better, I want around 6 tables right now, as I have only been 4-5 tabling, but as soon as I get comfortable with 6 want to keep adding till i am up around maybe 12-14, I guess I can have 6 easily on the 28 and stack the other 6. (Or stack the other 12??) |

re: Monitor: 1x 28" or 2x 21" poker ^^^Thanks Keaton, but I live in Germany (I am assuming Tiger Direct is an Internet shop, probably stateside). All moot now anyway since I have a Hanns G. 28" and its really great. I have the res at 1200x1980 but it is all new to me and I still am not sizing the tables right. I will start a thread on this. But a big monitor is AWESOME!
