Million Dollar Freeroll (payout structure = dumb)

I see that Paradise Poker is holding another Million Dollar Freeroll.

This is their third one I believe (either their second or their third).

The problem is - take a look at their payout structure. Is that not the stupist thing ever? I'd want to kill myself if I got second place.

I'm assuming they do this just so they can say "someone won a million bucks" - but honestly, I'd much rather compete in it if the payout was better structured (because the chance of getting first is super low, but the chance of getting say 15th is more resonable too me).

Now before I get bashed, yes I understand thats it's FREE - so I'm an idiot to complain about something that is free... but I'm just saying, I think it would be a more effective promotion for Paradise if it was better structured (more people would win money, more money would end up back in the system, etc.)

Pacific PokerPacific Poker is the poker room for 888.com casino and is still a favourite, especially amongst new players. They recently updated their software with a sleek and smooth new look which is much better to play.

PokerStarsPokerStars is amongst the best poker sites online that accepts US players. Use PokerStars marketing code CARDSCHAT for an exclusive $75 bonus.

Yeah, I've moaned about it before myself.

I can see why they're doing it though, the chance to win a million looks a lot better to a fish than a chance to win $100k or something. Yeah, it looks stupid to you, but that's because you're actually thinking about it reasonably and not just going weak at the knees thinking "OMG $1MILLION!!1"

Finishing second would essentially equal life tilt for me. Gotta be -EV, even if it is free. ^^

I think it's great, granted I hate paradise poker....

I'd rather there be more winner take all tourneys then a payout structure,
It would give us all the more reason to play better poker.

Though I've placed first in only a few of the dozens I've played. I would still prefer to see it be a winners only set up. Just wish this 1 million tourney was on a client I respect & was willing to play.

hell, i'm going to do this...simply to see if i can't make hte final table and get a free tropical vacation for me and my mom...i mean seriously... I agree the payout structure 1M for the winner 10k for the runners up, and crap for the rest of them is crappy...but oh well. I'll be entering this thing...thats for sure.

I don't like the fact you can only enter one of their many freeroll qualifiers. The best way to win is enter one of their last freeroll qualifiers since many of the players have already tried and the amount of players isn't so large.

10k for second! Wow that does suck. What a moronic payout structure. They might as well just make it winner take all like in the old days.

I'd disagree on Paradise being a bad site... they've got a good selection of non-Holdem games going - which gives them an edge over most other sites, especially if Omaha is your thing. Then again, I'd be biased in their favour, since its one of the main sites I've cashed out from (and the cashout went through just fine, unlike Pacific, which lets you initiate a bank transfer, and then tells you you're not transferring enough). The prize structure is rather biased, though. Still, all the other players on the final table get a decent amount for a freeroll, just 1st place is stupidly nice... makes you wonder if the players will do a split (like everyone takes 50K of the main prize to give a decent amount to everyone on the final table.

Used to like it, now I hate it. No reason except their customer service rep was rude as hell to me. Won't be playing there again (unless Cc sponsors events which I won't be able to resist)

Well,

I for one wasn't saying that paradise was a bad site. Just that the million dollar freeroll payout was terrible. I play limit tables and have finally adjusted enough to be making money there. So, other than the Million Dollar Freeroll, I am happy with paradise.

I agree, prizes are small for the tourny unless win it. I got a seat the other day. I had to beat ou 2300 others then in the tourny have to at least be top 500 to get $50. Only $1000 for 11 place in million dollar tourny

I think the question that everyone is forgetting to ask is:

How much did I pay to play in this tournament?
Be happy they are giving ANYTHING to 11th place.
