Mike Caro's 'Orac' - the poker playing-computer

I was skimming through his MCU site and read that he made a program on a computer that is apparently incredible in terms of playing poker.
He pitted it up against a top pro back in 1998, though it lost, and apparently it is supposed to have another game with some more pros in the near future.

Anybody know anything about this Computer/Program?
I wonder what kind of info he's plugged into it...only the mad genius himself would come up with that idea.

It's not the only program designed to play poker... there's a couple of bots around (although they generally seem to be best at losing the users money)... all of the bots that I've seen information about have played HoldEm, though - I tend to suspect that someone could write a bot to play solid Limit Omaha Hi/Lo, and make a profit, though...

I have a related story to tell you. Heard it from the horse's mouth.

I was sitting last week at Cherokee casino here in Tulsa 4/8 limit. The guy sitting to my left in seat one, we start talking. The conversation progresses to online poker. He was telling me he had bought a system to use online didn't say which one but..... He was using it on Party Poker account and their software picked up on it. They confiscated his account, all his Party points which he said he had like 45,000 points(not sure how true that one is but) I am assuming this software is one that plays for you.? He never did say. He is on Stars, that's where he plays mostly now and his name on there, if I remember correctly is stackemhigh? Thought I would let you all know.

His live play wasn't anything to brag about really. 5 mins after this conversation or so he sat out from the table for a good long while. When he got back he had more chips in tow and and when he got back into the game he Tried his level best to raise every pot thinking the chasers were going to fold preflop. He was just giving his money away. IMO.
Okay that's the story not sure if it's relevant or not but there it is.

wouldnt you rather use your own skill or knowledge if you have any to win at poker any idiot can use a bot i coulds easily use a bot but then again although it would serve the people who use bots right if i also used one againstthem it would be v uinfair to the others at tables who were not using bot and playing fairly anyone heard of morals thats why i cant use a boti think itsa best to avoid playing on web at all its best to just paly in rl there people cant use prog

No, but I've read a bit about Polaris that Bryce Paradis is now starting to butt heads with at HULHE. Interesting stuff.

But ya, apparently Polaris can beat %99.9 of all players, so it'll be interesting to see how Bryce does
