Middle/Late stage tournament play
Alright everyone i just got a few questions to ask!
My first question is when i loosen up to start stealing blinds from all positions but mostly late, obviously people start to recognise this when ive stole more than my fair share and start playing as calling stations against me. I never seem to be able to win on the flop without someone calling me to see what my next move is on the turn. I dont know if they are trapping me, seeing if i become weak to steal from me or are just calling me down with mediocre hands of which can i push them off the hand and fire the second bullet. I think i should change gear however when i do get a good hand i know im going to get paid off so find it hard to change gear! Saying this if i do change gear will i still have an image of a loose player? This brings me onto my second question of how tight to play when i do change gear? What cards should i be playing and from where? Should i make bigger raises preflop because people think i am still playing loose? And finally if i can see someone has changed gear to loose what hands should i call with to see flop so he dosent keep stealing blinds all the time and which should i reraise with to win the pot right away? I hope these questions make sense cos i dont have the best writing skills, LOL but ill be very appreciative of any advice! Tar very much! |

It makes sense lol Tight players generally play face cards or suited connectors...anything that isnt below tier 3 is a basic tight players monster hand. If you are getting caught being loose let a few hands in a row go and dont raise even if you get a good one. Try and slow play and then on the turn or river fire out a good one.You will obviously get called but after a few take downs and open folds they will begin to think you have tightened up on that stack to hit the money....xoxo i just woke up hope this makes sense lmao

Stay aggressive
I believe you've got to stay aggressive. I would usually play tight at the beginning and then open up in the middle rounds. After you're down to 5 players I basically go with anything 10 or above.
Choose the tight players and take advantage of them. If you see there is a above average player on the table then get into a pattern with them for a couple of hands. When you get a monster, play the same way and he/she will think they have you figured out. That's when you move all in and you get paid off. Not very technical explanation but I think it's understandable. |
