Micro MTT

Not sure if this is the right place or not for this thread but wondered if anyone has any consistent wins in the micro MTTs it seems like the players in micro will shove with any two face cards call any raise with any Ace its like a mine field of bad players i know im not the best and dont claim to be some poker genious but its gets frustrating and it seems like the worst hand wins more then half the time i know its poker but should i waste my time in the micros or just move up in limits ?

i know what you mean, can be very frustrating to play your cards right and still lose to a worst hand on the river. but i would suggest actually staying in the micro limits, yes there are lots of bad players but you should use that to your advantage and double up through them when you have real good hands. playing a tourney with a bunch of bad players can be frustrating but if you play it patiently and wait for big hands you can go deep into the tournament by their mistakes. the only remedy i would have against getting a bad beat is to multitable as many of those micro mtt's as possible, you might lose a couple of tournaments to a lucky catch on the river but you will still have a couple of other tourneys that you can go deep in. i play a lot of the micro tourneys and actuallly like all these bad players as they are easy to beat and help me become profitable playing at those tournaments. now if you really cant stand all the bad player/plays at the micro mtt's then you can move up a couple of limits. but when you do move up in the limits the skill level of the players are much better, which can be less frustating to play but can also make it a lot harder to get deep in the tourneys. i prefer consistently beating the bad players at the micros instead of moving up a limit and breaking even or getting a little/medium profit against the a higher skilled field of players. i would say play a couple of mtt's in the limit that you are interested in and if you think you can handle it then move up.

re: Micro MTT poker

oh micro MTT's can b a nacker mate. It's best not to use more than 2% of ur BR in them bcos of the amount of suck outs. I had AA in the SB n there was a raise and 2 callers so i decided to jus shove all-in bcos i know some ppl will call me with rubbish, that or i could take the pot down. Only to get called by 3 ppl (55,A8s,KQo) A8 won making a flush. PFFFT. Joined in another micro MTT. this time i had KK in mid of a MTT got my money in good against 66 with a huge 4-1 fav only to b kicked out when he catches a 6 on the flop. PFFFFT!!!
U've gotta get lucky in these mate.... Play ur strong hands well and hope 4 the best.

Just keep trying. Eventually your hands will start to hold up and you will be beating most of the people who are not as good as you are. If i were you i wouldnt be instantly moving up in limits as this will give you bad habits for the future for if/when you play a lot higher stakes.

The main reason you think that the worst cards always win is because of the fact that your brain remembers the bad things that happens to you but it wont remember winning a race for example.

Good luck at the tables!

Not sure which site you are referring to about micro MTT's but I play them exclusively at Pokerstars (10c and 25c mostly) and run about 40+% ITM in the micros.

The biggest thing I have found is that you need to stay away from the constant all-inners. There ARE many hands that go to showdown using strategy, not just ai's pre-flop and post-flop. I usually let those players bust each other out.

The 25c MTT's on Stars are better since they are not turbos. The dimers tend to have more maniacs because of the turbo blind structure, but I can still place ITM in many of those as well.

They aren't a waste of time, you just need to adjust to playing them.

re: Micro MTT poker

Like you said, people will shove any two cards like they're the nuts.. A4o? Shove it in there. J7o? Hey, could hit a straight, shove all the chips in. At micro, probably best to just play super tight in the early stages and wait until things have settled a little bit. You're under no obligation to play right away, and with the blinds so small early on, there's less damage to your stack for sitting out for a few orbits.

lol I use to play the 1$ games at ps and the players are really fishy so if your carefull you might be able to turn some wins but for me id just play a higher buy in and the play will be better
