| Median Stack Size Ok, I'm assuming the vast majority (if not all) of poker sites display the Average Stack Size during a tournament. It's usually listed in the tourney lobby. But, unless you're in a rebuy tourney, the figure is easy to calculate manually: AvgStack = StartingPlayers X StartingStack / RemainingPlayers I think a much more useful stat that poker sites should give players access to is Median Stack. That is, the stack size that is currently sitting in the middle of the pack. From wikipedia: Quote:
Of course, on sites like Full Tilt, where they break down the rank of each player in an MTT, Median can be determined easily by finding the halfway rank and going by that player's stack. PokerStars, unfortunately, only shows the rank for the top X players (usually 100, but I think it depends on tourney type), therefore it seems nearly impossible to find out the median, unless you are lucky enough to be sitting in the dead middle of the pack. I just wanted to see if anyone else thinks this would be a useful addition to the lobbies of all the major poker sites, or if median and average both take a backseat to stats such as "M factor." Any thoughts? |

| Seems to me you should worry more about your table than the tournament in a whole. Unless it's close to the bubble I would be trying to stay in a good position at my table. It's cool if I'm way over the median but does it matter when I'm at a table with a bunch of aggro guys with 100xbb. |
