I read about that in another report. Apparently there were several male players in that game, not just the guy that won. As silly as it seems, the poker room can`t legally stop them from playing if they wish to.

^ this. Happens all the time, though they don't always win. Phil Gordon and his buddies used to be famous for entering ladies tournaments too, though at least they had the good grace to put a dress on before they did.

And that ear to ear grin, as if he'd accomplished something big. Grrrr...

Even a woman who's experienced online can feel really intimidated when surrounded by men in a regular event. The women's only tournaments help with being a baby step and for attracting new female players to the game.

This is like Andy Kaufman wrestling women - but without the comedic genius of Andy.

Surely some sort of charity event or collection could be set up for Ms. Rowe. She doesn't just want the money, she needs the money.

The now infamous picture of Perry Friedman wearing a dress is a classic. Friedman isn't exactly a good looking dude, and he makes an even uglier chick. I agree with Oz; if you're gonna crash a women's tourney then have some respect and don a dress. However, pseudo-transvesticism isn't as bad as the idiot kid who tried to bet his bag of pot at a poker table at a casino.

First, let me say that I think that it was in bad taste for men to enter a tournament designated as a ladies only tournament. That being said, everything to the end of this post is me playing the devil's advocate.

What would happen if someone designated a tournament as men only. There would be huge public uproar. Ladies only tournaments are OK though.

What if a tournament was designated for the under 30 crowd. There would be another uproar from the seniors. The same goes for all black, all white, all asian, all hispanic, all gay, all straight, all bi, and my personal favorite, all fat old white guys in a second marriage and with their own hair and who drive a small red Honda. (I might be able to win that one)

Anytime somebody goes someplace they're not supposed to go, it makes news. Girls wanting to get in the Boy Scouts and vice versa and girls wanting to play on boys football or hockey teams. Boys playing field hockey wearing skirts is kind of interesting and has been pretty much accepted in some places.

There are people who spend their whole lives with a goal of getting someplace where they're not supposed to be and are in their glory if and when they finally succeed. Or they are in their glory when some news dweeb puts them in the public spotlight and says how badly they have been wronged.

My opinion: if that's what turns you on, go for it. Most of us don't care.

I asked an all ladies forum, if they let guys play and they said yes, but only have less then 10.

Oh cool, I just didn't understand. Not the first time, won't be the last.

Whoever said there would be an uproar from seniors over an under 30's tournament is probably off base. After all, there's at least one senior's event in the world. Also at least one young guns event. Just saying.

I'm pretty sure Doyle can't play in a young guns event, and say Peter Eastgate can't play in the seniors event.

This kind of stuff all came about because some girl in Texas wanted to play football, because there was no girls football team. NOW don't get me wrong if a girl wants to play in a mans sprot with men then all the more power to ya, but don't raise a stink when the men want to play in the womens sport. Now what i do not agree with him not splitting since she did have cancer and it could have helped. I guess that just goes to show there really is no Poker God cause if there was she would have won.

I have learnt the hard way, just because someone has said they have cancer, that don't make it true. She may have been trying to bluff him into the better option for her.

Seems to me like the dude is an agent of karma... If there were men's only poker tournaments, it'd be a heroic feat for a woman to get involved in it and there would almost certainly be legal action involved, but that would just be par for the course. The whole thing is just silly imo. No boys allowed? You gotta be kidding me.

And the cancer thing? No one would bat an eyelash at any poker room anywhere if she came in with that sob story and got busted. Happens every day to men and no one cares, but this is somehow different because it's a woman in a women's tournament? LOL, welcome to the 21st century ladies, you wanted equality and you got it, but it ain't all big stacks and rainbows as far as the eye can see. The article doesn't even state whether or not this guy knew his opponent had cancer when they became heads up. All it says is she offered to chop the pot. Although the guy has no class for playing in the tournament to begin with, it would be pretty classless for the lady to come out with, "Yea so we should chop the pot cause.......I have breast cancer". If this was a tournament devoted to charity or cancer survivors of some sort, then it would be completely different of course.

So all of you labeling this guy as the devil himself would honestly chop the pot of whatever tournament you were in if your opponent heads up started saying they had cancer of if you knew they had cancer? This is poker, you don't sit down at a table with hustlers expecting any sympathy for your problems.

You see a person who is drunk off their ass or a compulsive gambler sit down at your ring table, what do you do? Fold all your hands to him and move to a different table?

I think that it is ridiculous for men to enter a ladies only event a battle of the sexes such as we have here at cc is one thing but a ladies only sholud be respected just as a males or men only should be. Its amazeing to me the levels some people will stoop too these days. But, I guess as the old addage goes all fair in love and war and poker is considered to be a little bit of both bye alot of people.
