Making a run at Chris Ferguson's Goal

Alright, so I remember a while back Jesus did an audio for FT where he talked about turning $1 into a large amount of money, and how he wanted to do the same with $0. Well, I took 5th in a good sized freeroll yesterday and decided to try to undertake the latter task. I won $2.50 out of it, and have since turned it into 11 through about an hours work of .10 .20 limit. Putting in 5.50 for tonights buy in, but after that I'm going back to the limit games. I probably won't come close to making it, but what the hell right? Especially since I am pretty much broke after the latest move and tuition etc, and don't have a way to fuel my online poker funds anymore after I took it all out and close my bank account to compensate for the aforementioned move. Anyway, wish me luck guys!

I once took $0 up to $49 over a few months (playing micro limit), then I went on collosal tilt and blew it all in a day. Good luck to you. I hope you have better results.

It's definitely possible, Joshy. I went from $0 to $11 (CC Freeroll) to $3500 to ~$1200 (overconfidence + ignoring BR rules + tilt = trouble), and withdrew $900 of it. I'm currently still playing with the remainder of it, and I cashed in that CC freeroll under a year ago.

If I can do it, anyone can. It's definitely possible, and now looking back at Chris Ferguson's feat, i'm not that surprised. All he would need was alot of time, discipline, and patience. Of course his skill was enough to make that money, but I think the hardest thing for him must have been having the discipline of playing at the micros, and slowly building his way up without playing above his bankroll limits. I can't imagine what it's like making a living at 300/600 (or whatever he plays), and then bringing himself down to playing at 1c/2c

anyways, I rambled a bit....but GL Joshy! If you break the 50 or 100 line, stick to strict BR management rules, and you should be fine

Well, thought I'd give an update on my progress thus far. I'm trying to play it smart and grind it through. I'm really satisfied with my results thus far. On day 3, without having played any long sessions at all, I am up to 27.13. Not bad for only taking 2.50 from that freeroll. Like I said, I'm playing low-limit limit, which is completely out of my realm, so I'm very happy thus far. I'm actually keeping a running blog of my progress on my Myspace to inspire me to not do anything stupid

Patience is the name of the game I will agree with JQ on this. Glad to see that your on a upward swing now, Joshy! Hang Tight-you'll be right back on the top of your game as well as your money.

Chucky sounds to me that you're getting back in the swing of things and the best thing I can see to do is just remember the "BR's"!

.10 .20 for the most part.

I think one of the things that will help me out with my patience issue is that I can't withdraw the money at the moment. I don't have a bank account anymore, so my firepay account is kind of on "an island" But I got to thinking last night. My biggest problem I think I've had is patience. I was the kind of player who looked to quickly make the most money I could and then when I got a good chunk I'd always get greedy, and usually blow it back down. By playing .10 .20 limt he, I think I'm adopting more of a grinder approach, while maintaining my usual agressive play. So I'm encouraged at the moment. As for the maintaining BR rules, I'm liking my results at the .10 .20 so far, and I'm almost worried about moving up levels, lmao. So I may stick to .10 .20 a little longer than the $100 needed to move up, if I make it, lmao

Try to set yourself on a good bankroll management asap. Playing above your roll will just be setting yourself up for disaster... up to $27 this quick means youve probably been playing and risking a large portion of your bankroll


either way you are doing good for now, keep it up and try to keep the downswings to a minimum

I'm trying to avoid putting myself in that situation. Playing just .10 .20 limit and the nightly CC games. I wanted to sit in on a .25 .50 nl game since that's my comfort zone, but I luckily thought better of it I'm right at 50 right now.

I started last week and the highest I've gotten initially was $26, I started a freeroll and got about $6 and played some ring games but when I was at about $26, I picked up AA, I went all in and it got cracked by QKo... I can't believe he called preflop allin with that but he hit a straight and back to the drawing board.

2nd run I made this week, got it up to about $57 and decided to do a $50sng where I ran into a guy who started annoying me with always min raising my blinds, so I went all in on a pot and he out drew me...

I'm at ground zero now, I'll try again next week as I got some good freeroll tickets ($15K week of freerolls) for the pts I've accumulated so hopefully I'll be able to get out of the freerolls with that next week.
