Luck is an unfaithful mistress

Luck is like the guardian angel of them what have no clue. Like the temporary immunity puppies get from their mother. It would seem to *almost* make sense that if a player just starting out stayed sincerely oblivious to any finer points of the game then luck might stick around. And a lot of the time it looks like that's exactly what's happening with the miracle rivers and such.

But just about anybody is going to start to get an inkling of a clue and whammo...bye bye angel.

Some will try to stay blissfully ignorant and kid themselves that luck is still faithful but a player who wants to become a student of the game picks up a book and the next thing you know those lucky puppies seem to be drawing out left and right while the increasingly skillful student works steadily toward the long-run, pausing occasionally to slice at his/her wrists with a putty knife while secretly hoping the pup gets parvo.

Sigh...Knowledge is a much better friend than luck but sometimes it sure seems a slow way to go.

ps: eew at the parvo thing but like 'i hope you get aids' in the chat box.........which i would never do nor do i wish any actual harm to any actual lucky mf's nor harm to any actual puppies. i less than 3 puppies. i really do.
