Look how dependent we've become on technology

Full Tilt's been down for 30 minutes and I feel like Axl Rose after going 3 days without booze, coke or opiates. Will I need to go to rehab next as well. Imagine if the entire Internet just stopped working...forever. When my dad was a kid there was TV with just a few channels and there was radio. You rode bikes, camped out, played baseball, fished, etc. Hell, I did all these things as a kid too...and I'm only 38 years old. Yet I remember cartoons were only on Saturday mornings on one channel. And a few times a year you'd get the Charlie Brown Christmas special or Rudolph the Rednosed Raindeer during primetime...and you're parents wouldn't let you watch it because it was on Friday night and they wanted to watch Dallas (the series, not a sports team.)

But here I am having a meltdown because FT is down.

My, how dependant we've become on technology. It's a shame actually. Things were better and more fun back in the day, IMO.

lol. Yeah, I actually agree with this. Last night my internet cut out while I was on Netflix. I had a mini freakoout until it came back on. Sounds dumb, I know. But keep in mind that it's 20 below here and dark at 4pm, so not much else I could do.

i was wondering what what up with FT.. just tried to log on and came here and viola; technology lets me know i'm not the only one who gets screwed over by that same technology

I love technology but its sadly true man! We are dependent Lol I'd rather text than talk on the phone..smh

lol...sheesh...I'm only 12 years older than you and when I was a kid we only had a few channels (3 - NBC, 6 - ABC & 10 - CBS) . It was cool to own an AM transistor radio. We got our first color TV a couple of months before the moon landing...and it had a remote... before that the TV was black and white and had a knob that you turned to change the channel... and us kids were the remote!...the new remote worked on "ultra sound"... when the milk man would stop (yeah we had one of those too) to put milk in the milk box on the front porch, sometimes his brakes would squeal and the TV would turn on... Mom liked her buzzy, crackly AM radio station cause they played Glenn Campbell...ALOT... whenever he'd come on TV, mom would always say how "cute" he was in color ... Dad would mutter and then flip the channel

Yes death to cell phones,worst thing ever.Lets all get together an talk on a phone how fing stupid.Now mine is like a collar for a dog.If i stray to far from home or the wife thinks i might be having fun it's time for my collar to be yanked back to the house.

would be all hell unleashed if the solar storms predicted in 2-3 years will indeed shut down all electric devices... the industrial revolution has gone awry, for sure.

Technology is awesome, until it fails you. Then you wish you never had it.

I have satellite tv, and my internet connection is beamed in by satellite in the next town over. The worst part is, when it's really storming bad, and there's nothing else to do, that's when it goes out the most.

Yeah, I remember hearing a radio special on BBC about this. Quite scary indeed! Let's hope this doesn't happen!
