LOL, look what Stars gave me a chat warning for

I was in one of those $1000 holiday freeroll things they are doing, and it just so happens that Humberto Brenes was at my first table. Whoever busts Humberto gets an entry into a sunday mill, so of course everyone is trying to bust him and he's playing really tight. So Humberto raises UTG, 2 calls, I call on the button with 65s, BB and SB both call. flop comes out Q56 2 spades, humberto bets, 1 fold, 1 call, I push, SB CALLS, bb folds, humberto folds. turns out BB had a 7 high flush draw with the 7-2 of spades and I hold. Well after the hand, I asked Humbero this:

79910945 mj23lbj111 humberto were u calling if that moron didnt call
me? 3 12/22/2006 7:04:08 PM

they said that is my warning and next offense will result in a chat ban.

LOL?

Haha - my chat got banned because i said

"well thats gay"
or something .. 2 weeks

it sucks , cause people mouth me off now and i cant talk back to them lol

It banned me because of "harrasment of sexual preference" or something in the email they sent me..

but yeah, that sucks.. woulda been sweet if u busted him though
i was watching one where he got busted - everyone was talking at the table and he was holding JJ and someone called with 95 and hit runner runner for straight lol

did they send u an email warning - or just say it right in chat box, or what?

I double-concur. Don't call people morons. It's rude, and you stand nothing to gain from it. If anyone thinks it will give them respect in the eyes of the other players around the table, they're sorely mistaken.

And don't get me started on using "gay" as a term for things you don't like. My class mates in fourth grade used to do that, which ought to say something about the level of maturity I assume in people who use it.

Merry Christmas.

PokerStars is turning into the Soup Nazis of On-Line poker.
I was recently informed by PS Security (The POSTAPO) that I may no longer deposit there and that I should look elsewhere for a place to play.
They don't fool around.

Holy shit! I just tried to log on to PS and have discovered that not only can I no longer deposit there, my account has been closed.
Never cheated, never swore, never got any chat warning. Just a rude letter from support telling me to play elsewhere.
I am Banned! lol
I'll bet nobody else at CC can say that.

I can't Chris. While I can honestly say that I never did anything to warrent banning, the letter I got was a little too personal to share. Maybe I'll explain it later. I'ts not that big a loss. I rarely played there.

OK, trying not to hi-jack this thread, but I'm curious. To go along with my article on "Verbal Abuse In Online Poker", I'd like to know some opinions on the severity of some non-cuss words. On a scale of 1-5 (1=harmless, 5=person should get the boot), what do you think of the following words:

Moron

Gay

Idiot

Donkey

Dumbass

ATM

Fag

Bitch

I was playing at absolute poker the other day and a person decided to go off on another player calling them an idiot and an assclown. It almost always folllows the name caller getting burnt by what alot of us would consider bad calling cards. But, the person draws out and wins the pot. The reality of it is there are people at the tables with their own money and their own level of skill, or lack there of. So they play what cards they are dealt.I often refer to the as "flop whores",because they MUST see a flop. But I don't type it in the chat box to talk down at them.

I don't want anyone booted either, but on the other hand, I hear it all day from middle school students, and I would like to think we as adults are above that type of "bullying".

When someone say's "that's gay" to me, saying "so am I want a date?" usually generates chippage in my general direction.

No need for abuse and you seldom see a decent player doing it.

I really see no need for abusing players online. Its childish and i dont even reply to it. I did report it once however, but that time the abuse being spouted was really OTT.

OH yea, 4Dogs hows Toontown treating you these days

I got called a really bad thing in Paradise one day and my husband was watching and insisted I report the guy. Paradise's response was that I if I was going to play poker that I should expect that sort of thing to happen and be tough enough to take it.

So won't bother reporting in the future lol.

I`m not impressed by their attitude, Daks. Sure it goes on, but most sites will at least warn a player if he is abusive. Seems like they are condoning it.

it's all or nothing people. you cant get mad at someone for calling you a fag and then turn around and call someone else a different derogatory name. everything is relative, therefore you should either call everyone every name equally, or you should be ready to not call anyone any name.

IMO, I dont find any of those words offensive to me as they are typed by some person I don't even know or care about and besides that I know who I am and I'm not one of those words above, but I'll admit to being a donkey at times.

I think people who win then call the losers names are the worst players.

I was on a cash table the other day, trying that limit for first time just seeing whats its like.

Guy raises pre-flop, i call with aq, flop comes a4j. He bets, i call. Although at that point i did put him on ak but i guess i amde mistake and couldnt lay down my hand.

Anyway turn comes another j, i had half my money already in so i raised his bet thinking its my last chance to win it, to represent a j. he thinks then calls and wins.

Granted, wasnt best hand. He then says "no foldem holdem, gotta love it". Had to be a smartass about it. If youre making money off of someone, its stupid to talk shit to them. Only a bad player whos not used to winning would imo.

Maybe Pokerstars is really cracking down on verbal abuse poker chat. If that's the case, this is a good thing. This problem was brought about by Mr. Stcker in a thread and a link to this blog about it some time ago. Since then, it has many replies agreeing that it's gone too far. Of course, this is just wishful thinking, but still...
