Lol instead of bad beats.. what was a great beat you lost to?
I just lost in 2 freeroll tourneys based apon I'd say the river. However both loses were to a much better hand.
Oh and by all means everyone may or may not have played the cards I had. It was my choice #1 Beat.. I hold a Q,10 off suit.. flop shows Ace(diamonds), 9(clubs) and 8(clubs) Oh I bet 3X the BB before the flop to chase off the rag card holders. It works and it leaves 3 of us left. First guy bets, I checked, next guy raises 2X. First guy calls, I know that the pot odds give me a 10-1 chance of getting the straight. Ok the turn comes Jack(diamonds). I am sitting pretty one would think. Yes I see the ace and possiblity of the flushes. Well 1st guy goes all in, I figure why not I have a straight. He either has Ace, with a strong face card or is chasing the flush. 3rd Guy also goes all in, I thought what is he looking for? Well the 1st guy I was correct on, he was chasing the flush. Now the river turns a Jack(spade). I think I basically have this made now, no flush draw either way. We show and like I said 1st was chasing and I am like this is looking nice. 3rd guy shows and he has Ace,Jack in his hand. I thought to myself, what a lucky SOB. However I congratulated him on his NH and went on my merry way. I know everyone may have or may not have played it diffrently. Now game 2 comes along... This one is easier.. I get Ace,Jack off suit. Once again I am late on the table, off the button. There are quite a few folds except 2 others. I make a bet of double the pot. 2 Now call.. Ok.. the flop shows Jack(spade) 7(club) and 10(diamonds). Well 1st guy checks, 2nd guy goes all in. Ok I know there may be 2 pair or 3 of a kind. Yet again I say why not? He shows Ace, 10 off suit. Ok now I am in pretty good shape one would say. The turn shows an 5(diamonds), one would say I am in still pretty good shape. Now the lucky part once again, the river flops a ten. I thought again, Son of a B I lost to the river again. How darn unlucky is that? I again said NH and went on my merry way Yet I have also been the recipient at times of getting the luck on the river. So it does even out on occasion . |

This one was a great hand, I held a K of diamonds and a J of spades. On the preflop one player bet $200..of course I had to call. There was only 4 that stayed preflop..the flop came out...a K of spades a K of hearts and a 10 of hearts. The same player that bet on preflop then bet another $200. I stayed in. He and I were the only ones that stayed. The turn card was a 10 of diamonds. The same player that bet went all in this time. I had to call I had the full house. I figured that he also had a full house with tens full of kings, I had kings full of tens. The river was a 2 of clubs.....He had pocket 10's!!!! I was the first out in that tourney. He had a great hand...but I had a good hand also. Everyone said that I played the correct way...What would you have done?

Made the final table last night on Earth Poker's 10:00 $50.00 added freeroll. Paid a relatively nice $15 to the winner. Money to the top 9. So, I enter the final table the chip leader by a small margin. I am playing pretty tight, not wishing to feed the small stacks with unnecessary losses. After a few hands, I catch:
Ad Qd on the button. Blinds are $500/$1000. Half the table folds, the other half calls the big blind. I figure to chase some folks and raise 3x to $3000. Sure enough, everyone folds but one guy, who is in 3rd place with a little over half of my stack size. He calls. Flop comes: Jc 10d 8h. I check my high card Ace/double gutshot str8 draw. He checks. Turn comes: 10h. I now have a pair on the board with an A kicker, double gutshot draw. I decide to test the waters and bet half the pot. He only calls again, no raise. At this point, I'm not sure if he's setting me up with trip tens, two pairs, has overplayed K9 or Q9 and sucked out his str8, or is chasing a draw himself. River comes: Kd. I've made my A-hi str8, taking any sets out of the mix, and capping the potential K-hi/Q-hi str8. No flush draw on the board. I am ready to pounce! I bet the pot, which puts him all-in, and would put me WAY, WAY out front in the chip lead. He immediately calls and turns over pocket Jacks for a Jacks over tens full house. Never saw em comin' after he tried to limp in, then only called my two big bets and checked before the turn. I ended up in 10th, one spot out of the micro money, but I couldn't complain. I played it pretty well, I think, but he played it perfectly, and I lost. That's poker! Reminds me of someone's earlier post here: "Never go all in unless you're delighted the other guy made his hand." ![]() |

Oooh I remember another I had about a week or so ago.. I was BB and had 6,8 off suit. So a few folded and a few called. I checked and on the flop I see 6,Ace,6. So I bet very strong and I get 1 Caller. Thinking He might have an Ace in his hand I say ok now what is to come on the turn. An Ace comes on the turn and I figure to check. He also checks. Now I am thinking what is he holding? The river turns an ace and I am now since I was first to bet of course. My philosiphy is "no guts no glory" and bet all-in. He calls as well on all-in. Now you are going to say he had the ace but he didn't. What he did have was pocket 10's. I also congratulated him, said nh and went on my merry way. I always tip my hat when I lose to the better hand cause I lost to a better hand and not some rag card playing hopefull.

Yeah, I probably would have been more afraid of the quad Aces with three already out on the board, but that sucks when someone's holding a bigger pocket pair to upset your own full house. Been there, done that.

Ok another great beat, but this time I was the giver and not the recipient(excuse the spelling if it is wrong. Not my best quality). LOL neither is my sentence structure.
Anyway.. I am again on the BB and I hold a Queen,Nine off suit. Middle to late of the freeroll so I am glad that most of the rag card holders are gone. So just about everyone fold but this one guy who raises 2X the BB. I have a pretty decent stack of chips, second at the table. So I check the bet and on the flop I see Queen, Queen, Jack. I was like wow! so ok I take as much time that seems reasonable and check. He then also checks. Now the turn comes and woot! another queen shows up. Now once again I wait a reasonable time and check again. He bets a reasonably high amount and of course I call. My figuring now that he is trying to steal this or holds something like Ace, Face card figuring that I may have a smaller Ace, Face Card. The river turns a 5 of club. Once again I wait a reasonable amount of time and check. He goes all-in..and of course I go all in with him. I had one of the others who was playing go WOW! nh. I of course said thanx. I just sat there in my bask of glory for today. That definatly made up for those 2 previous great beats I lost to. |
