Just wondering people's thoughts on how many places paid you think there should be in a live game if only 29 people entered?

I think most places would pay 3 in that scenario. Maybe you would see some pay 4. At the very least, the top three would probably agree to give the 4th place finisher his money back.

In live poker would be uncomfortable if the tables will quickly be disbanded..

Tables will be arranged from personal experience: 3 table with 7 players + 1 table with 6 players...

Thanks for your reply. I would have thought more myself but the few times I have gone to play live I have been quite surprised how few were paid

Last night's game was pretty sick really. 30 euros buy in and 29 played. There were 3 paid and managed to finish in the worst place possible........ 4th!!!

What makes it worse is usually they do agree to pay one extra a bit when it gets to bubble time however one person didn't agree to it so that never happened...... as they had the 2nd chipstack. And even worse than that when there were 8 left that same person button shoved their 6 BB stack with 79s as I sat there in the big blind with A5o with just under 20 BB's and made the call only to see the board run out JJ6T8

Needless to say that if I'm ever in a position to return the favour and decline to pay the bubble with that player playing I shall take great pleasure in doing so :D

I do not understand the question, there will be 5 places paid ( for example pokerstars ITM ) :)

1. 39%
2. 26%
3. 17%
4. 10%
5. 8%

This was a live tournament at a local card room. One time I managed to ship it and there were close to 60 entrants that time with only 5 officially paid. I feel when you're mainly an online grinder that you're somewhat spoilt with the amount of players who receive money from online SNG's/mtts

Standard is 5.

The organizers can vary though.

The casinos I play at they pay 1 person per 10 that enter. So 60 people playing the top 6 get paid. Most time the finally table agrees to give 7-10 their buy-in back.

It ALWAYS depends on the place/location. I've seen this at minimum of 10% (pretty standard) to as high as 15%. My regular live place is 13%, but the min cashes are very min - you won't even double your buy-in.

29 players should pay 5 spots

In a live game I think it should pay 5 spots with the 5th place guy getting his money back but most casinos pay only 4 spots with that many entrant. I Know at the Taj back in the day if we got 50 ppl it would pay 6 spots and we would give the 7th his money back

Not really true, if your playin online the amount of entrants is almost always going to be higher. The buy-in for a tournament online is typically much cheaper than a brick and mortar casino (in terms of buy-in to guaranteed prize pool ratio) which also increases the entrants. Unless you are playing "beginner" tournaments on bovada for example where the payout structure is less top heavy and more places are paid. Payouts in most tournaments are determined by amount of entries, the more entries, the more payouts. So I don't really see how you could be spoiled by online play as far as payouts are concerned I think it is pretty comparable.

Where I play it would pay down to 5, but 5th would receive less then the buyin.

With 29 players, it goes into if they pay per every 9 or have a set number per entries.. WHen I play at the Hardrock this amount of players would pay 3, and depending on the players would bubble the 4th place guy... It just depends on the venue holding it..

I think the 5-6 places will be enough, otherwise the prize will be minimal ...

its all different the hard rock near tampa has 7pm 115.00 buy in event saturdays and only 3 pay doesnt matter if has 1000 people 3 pay.

Now the hard rock always has great things going though high hands bad beats wpt events tourney leader boards for weeks months etc.. giving seats to 20k events or 1 million events so is always interesting thing.

I would say 29 people most events at hardrock 4 pay tops. Yet is guar events that 10 pay a seat to wpt or etc.. got to call look online go in ask for schedules etc..

When did oceans and bike in la and san diego more paid but buy ins were 40-45 dollars in events paid while out there so was up to 400 peeps. Think oceans 11 had cheap events 30 buy ins bike always had big events going seats to wsop etc.. cool stuff wish had played more. When did play mostly just ringed at those places small stakes. Pretty cool experience though so a few pros from tv at the bike.

Still didnt always like all the break downs even though first won a lot cause less pays. In things could have played. Bike def had the better events.

I have only done 3 tournaments in vegas in life and each had good pays was bigger fields or decent fields didnt do great think took 17th in one for a few buck profit. I did play a tourney in another casino indian one near san diego won 1k think 8 paid like 312 people if remember right that was like 2008 is same casino a guy who won an event plays at but dont remember name was a dump to me lol The guy is asian cant think of his name and if he won wpt or wsop event for like 1 million he is like 60 bunch of kids he wasnt there day I played is his home casino they advertise him lol.

If i go live I am usually looking for a guar event and guar seats or payouts certain number before enter myself.

The good thing with hard rock is those leader boards bonuses seats and awards if could live in the casino lol.
