1. Never ever tell people how bad they are or try to correct them.

this goes without saying but everytime I go to Atlantic City someone does this, ok number one why would you want to try to make a bad player better? When you tell someone how bad they are right away they will start playing better because they get worried everyone is watching them now.
and some people are there for fun not to make tons of money like you want to do.

2. Sunglasses and Ipod

Now I admit I wear my ipod when I play cash games but thats just because I sit for like 10+ hours and get bored. Please Please dont be that guy though that wears Ipod, sunglass's (sometimes like marcel and upside down) and acts like this little 1/2 game is like $200/$400 NL.

3. The drunk guy

as much as I love taking pots from the drunk guy, dont be him. He is annoying as hell and gives away alot of money.

4. Pay attention to game

know when it is your turn to act, dont act before your turn. I hate when I have to remind people that it is there turn to act.

5. Tip the dealer man

I dont think $1-$5 out of the $200 - $600 pot is going to break you guys. I ended up tipping the dealer last week for this guy that kept not tipping dealer. He would win a hand and I would throw dealer a dollar and say its from him. I was kinda wishing he would catch on and after a hour or so he did. I usually tip dealers $1-$2 before they even deal their 1st hand because its nice, I appreciate the job they do.

6. don not play out of your rack

I hate this, people that play out of their rack slow the game down sooooo much.

Nice post, stormswa; one thing I want to say is I don't think it's a bad thing to wear glasses. If you're a new player and don't want to give away a lot of tells (obv eye motions being a huge one) then glasses aren't a bad idea.

I know what you mean, though with the douchebags wearing oakleys and acting like they're Phil Ivey, but for the actual function of hiding your eyes, I don't mind it.

yea I was talking more about the guys that get all fixed up but it don't matter because most of us know what they have anyway by the obvious tells they give off. Like how his hand is shaking like crazy when he puts in his $90 bet into a $8 pot.

Totally agree with you on every point. My brother is a poker dealer at the trop in AC and says he doesn't get tip hardly enough.

I havent played at all in a poker room but from the private games I play I want to add a huge rule. DO NOT TALK ABOUT A HAND IN PROGRESS OR TO THE PEOPLE IN IT. Also...it is probably best to not talk about it if there are multipule people in the pot.

need to be more specific, I could see dont reveal your hand but as for talking about hand I do this all the time. Like tell someone to fold because they or beat or tell them what they have and how many outs they have to beat my already made hand. I do this all the time to get a call because people never believe me if they are TAG kind of players. I see nothing wrong with this at all, now saying hey I just folded the fullhouse or dang I should of ran my 88 or something like that yes real bad.

when you are given maybe more then $200 in chips they give you a chip rack to carry them in. When you get to table you are supposed to take the chips out of the chip rack and have them on the table, this makes play fast and easier for people to see how many you have.

it is terrible etiquette to play from that rack but new players do. It takes too much time to sit there and try to get out $50 in red chips when it much easier to just grap 10 reds from top of your stack and throw them in.

maybe they do some of these things just to pluck your nerves

well most casino's wont let you play out of your rack because your chips have to be on the table at all times and in a chip rack they can be hidden. All players have to be able to see all your chips at anytime along with your cards. Its same reason you cant have your cards behind your chipstack. Only time I played out of my rack is if im getting ready to go, when I had that $750 stack I put $500 in a chiprack during my last orbit or two because I was leaving but I had all the chips out while I was still actively playing.

Here's my take on this...yes the dealers generally do a good job and should be tipped. However, I look at it like a waiter or waitress in a restaurant.

Some dealers are better and/or friendlier than others, and some dealers really are bad. They misdeal, they don't know the game they are dealing (Omaha H/L, Stud).

So before the dealer leaves the table, I tip them based on their performance. They'll always get some sort of tip (unless they were super bad), and if they were really good, I give them a nice parting gift.
