live play Lately I've been concentrating on playing live. I play $2/$5 limit no-kill at a casino cardroom. In about 26 hours over five days I'm showing a gross profit of about $50. I buy in for $100 and have yet to need to rebuy. Ever since I began live play I've lost all interest in online play. Live play is so much more...real. I like the feel of the cards and chips, the socializing at the table, the fact that I can go to the cage and cash out at the end of my session without all of the contortions that online rooms require. I also LOVE the fact that, while online play is a gray area in Canada (where I live), live play at a regulated casino cardroom is perfectly legal--and profit is not even taxed. So I'm wondering whether there are any other live play enthusiasts on this forum who want to talk about live play, especially live low-stakes limit. Since there isn't a live play subforum I guess we'll have to talk in this thread.

re: live play poker Just curious Noname65, how is Online Play Gray in Canada? I like playing Live more so then Online but Online is more Convenient (Since it's there all the time), also because of the Big Money in Mtt's rather then live since online is Cheaper when it comes to Mtt's for Smaller stakes:Bigger money...What I mean is Sunday Million is $215 to enter and 215K to win for 1st, Live I still have yet to see a game that comes close to that

Does anyone want to avoid getting sidetracked by the side-comment I made about online play, and address my MAIN point of discussion, which is: Do you play live and do you want to discuss it in this thread? If there are simply no live players on Cardschat then I'm happy to go elsewhere.

live play the most big advantge is you play less hands and players play more tight than online games and as you can take more time to make a distion you have to take time to anlyzye what happen in the hand and compine it with my read on the other player this 2 things what give advantge in live game not likeley to play live like online play unless you r tom dwan

re: live play poker i'm primarily a live player having only recently come online . gotta love toronto i'm close to tons of casinos and there are tons of cash games i have three regular games i get into though i may have to drop one the bay street boys are getting cranky...seem to do fine with stocks but cards naw so much.aside from that i have a biweekly game with my hardcore poker buddies that we play freezeout usually plo or some sorta mixed, buy in 250 and then cash no limit gets a little crazy that one. make it to a casino at least every two weeks for awhile it was everyday. personally if not for the added volume of online i would stick to live. but you can't beat a steady hourly average in yer pj's though i find when i play live now my tells are a little obvious...so need to keep it in check i don't know if i would agree that players play tighter live... especially not the blackjack players and just to add a note you are not getting taxed yet but if you make enough doing it you will be and it can be killer, but yeah it's a grey area online as well as live...for now Last edited by Sven Deuceman : 15th May 2011 at 12:53 PM.

Hi, guys, It sounds like you're all NL players. So far I'm sticking to limit because the variance is lower and you need less BR. In my limit sessions I've bought in for $100 and never yet needed to rebuy. Maybe I've been lucky or maybe I've been smart. I don't agree that live limit is any more tight than online limit. On the weekends there's lots of fish who will go to showdown with junk hole cards--and regularly catch monsters on the river. Heck, I myself once beat villain's paired ace with a T3 offsuit two-pair, with the 3 coming on the river. I've heard of poker clubs in Toronto and even had one recommended to me, but for now I'm commuting to Brantford, which is the only accessible limit cardroom for a Toronto guy who doesn't have a car. I usually catch the 12:30 pm Hamilton GO bus out of Union Station and then the 2 pm Greyhound from Hamilton to Brantford. Total cost is not prohibitive and the travel time is not too bad. The cardroom is a short 10-minute walk from the bus station. (I even emailed OLGC about commuting to Brantford Casino by intercity bus and got a note from the general manager of Brantford thanking me for the suggestion. ) Anyway, I usually play $2/$5 limit no-kill from 3 pm to 9 pm on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. One thing I'm interested in knowing about is live play hygiene. The chips at Brantford are filthy and stick together. I go for a smoke without washing my hands and, as a result, I've ended up getting bronchitis. Are there any tips people can offer me on how to avoid getting sick once I go back?
