Linux, Poker Tracker, and the whole crazy thing.

Hi guys, how's everyone doing? It's been a good while since I've posted here on CC. I've had a lot of computer problems, OS difficulties, and I'm getting out of the navy, so poker has taken a backseat. But I'm back and ready to get into things again. I have officially switched over to linux, as Vista REALLY sucks. I was wondering if anyone knows of a linux alternative to PT. There are a couple work arounds to get PT3 to work but I was hoping for a native application.

I've never heard of any native application for linux to track your play, but I have used PokerTracker through wine(although it has been quite some time), and I know a lot of other people do as well. I have never tried with Holdem Manager or Poker Office, but I know it works with PokerTracker. You can try to Google "PokerTracker3 linux" and find tutorials to do it through wine. Sorry if this wasn't the answer you were looking for, I agree it would be nice to have some native apps like this(especially poker sites!!), that is why I am primarily still on Windows

Yeah, Wine or Cedega is going to be your best bet for now.

There is an open-source tracker for Windows and Linux currently in development called fpdb. It's far from either PT3 or HEM but is gaining in popularity (and it's free). As a developer myself who has run Linux for 12+ years, I was considering joining the development effort and pitching in, but unfortunately I just don't have the free time for such projects anymore.

Well thanks a lot guys. That is what I was figuring I was going to have to do, but was hoping I missed something. I did stumble across fpdb but for the life of me, couldn't get it to work. I'm either going to just use wine or run PT3 on windows through virtual box. If you decide to try your hand, dmorris, I'd be happy to help. I have had some experience with linux and have been programming on and off for about 5 years now.
