| progress update I guess its time for an update. I had a good run in February, winning almost 2k in just about about 30k hands. I had a really rough day on day 23, losing almost 5 buyins as nothing seemed to work. Other than i had a pretty consistent month. Day 19 123% 7,839.19 Day 20 125% 7,969.36 Day 21 125% 7,967.36 Day 22 122% 7,811.36 Day 23 115% 7,327.36 Day 24 117% 7,508.36 Day 25 120% 7,700.76 Day 26 123% 7,873.66 Day 27 124% 7,936.66 Day 28 127% 8,124.66 Last edited by johoyo : 2nd March 2008 at 6:33 AM. | Well starting from 10$ free "sign up bonus" coz i want to see how far i can get without actually having to deposit. Day -5: 10$ Day -4: 25$ Day-3: 15$ (got pretty pissed and actually played in a 5$ SnG (GOOD br management there)...then didn't play for a few days afterwards) Day-2: 30$ Day-1: 40$ (haven't really played more than 2 hrs a day yet so things going very slowly) Day1: 50$ 100% --started playing .1/.2 limits Day2: 60$ 120% Day3:80$ 160% Day4:100$ 200% Day5:105$ ~210% --interesting day...for some IDIOTIC reason i decided to play some .25/.5 limit. I lost one buy in pretty quickly then was half way down on another (and topped it up). Was then down about 20% on 2 tables so i was down to about 80$...but luckily i hit a couple hands and managed to double up a couple of tables pretty quickly and ended up about 5$ up. So I just left and vowed to never touch them until i hit 200$, because i could have potentially lost half my BR. Day6:135$ ~260% (weird day...i played 2 tables while doing school for about 20 mins and made 30$. I think i got kings on one table and managed to slightly over double up. Since i was only buying in for 6$ that put me about 14$. I then was in BB and had 89s or something where i called somebodies min raise. I hit a set of 8s on the flop and decide to slow play since this guy was superagressive and the flop wasn't dangerous. So i double up again and ended up 6$-->30$ in about 5 hands... Day7:150$ 300% Day8:165$ (played a 3$ rebuy...only thing it taught me was to never waste money doing that again) Day9: 195$ ---Up to present time now...VERY interesting day. I started off very good. However, i then decided to play in a 5$ MTT (coz i had plaeyd a couple of 1$ ones and was getting top 50 most times for 4/5$ for 2-3 hrs ie. complete waste of time). So ofc i bust out pretty earlier and for some reason all hell opens loose after that. I was playing some games after that coz i wanted to reach 200$ before the end of the day (was at about 183$ after the MTT "decision". So everything starts going wrong and i start to tilt really badly (for the first time i would say as well as i've only been playing online (or any) poker for about a month now). And although i knew it i didn't really care...EVERYTHING seemed to be going wrong. I would correctly put a guy on a flush draw and overbet the pot with top pair but ofc he would call and hit the flush on the turn (once) and river (once...who calls a pot bet for a flush draw on the river :S). I ACTUALLY TYPE TO HIM "i know you have flush but i don't give a %*& atm coz i can't believe you called my bet" and then call his bet and lose most of my stack. It would just piss me off that i woudl have the BB raising me in the SB or something, but then when i raised with KK it would fold around to me. I could hardly pick anything up post flop after raising preflop coz i would have guys out of position raising hard or all in etc and then when i decided to limp into some pots everytime some idiot would raise it like 6xBB. So anyways, eventually somebody raises me in the SB after i raised him in the BB with A7, so even tho i figure im probably beat i go all in and he calls...with AK ofc. However, the first piece of luck of the day has me suck out to win. So i leave the table, then look at my BR (figuring that doubling up there must put me in ok stead), but realise that IF i had lost that pot i would have been about 160$ i think (ie. lost about 25$ (and 1/7 BR) in 45 minutes). So that actually calmed me down for some reason, and i started to play better. I had to hit 2 pretty big hands, but i managed to get 5$ up on when i started so instantly closed everything and stopped playing...realising how lucky i was not to be a few days back) I think tilting will potentially be a big problem for me...i played some RTS games at a high level and i would have the same problem there. I would actually get MOTIVATED by losing...it would make me want to play more and care less. So with games that would mean i would win like 85% of games then one day in the month i would play way more games than any other day and win like 20%. So with poker, when i've had bad sessions i keep playing until i make it back...but im a little worried what will happen if i simply have a terrible day where nothing at all is going right and if i keep playing trying to make it back i will probably end up losing ALOT. I was going to move up to .25/.5 once i hit 200$, but now i think i will stick at .1/.2 until at least 300$ (i might have only played 500 hands @ .1/.2 so far) and start to buy in for less than 5%. Idk..will have to see how it goes. Im going to have to find some way that i can stop playnig when i am playing bad...because as it stands i tend to play more when i'm losing and i tend to quit early when im having a very good day (don't want to mess it up or something equally as illogical). |

| Well apparantly i can't edit... So i couldn't resist trying for the extra 5$ to make 200$...and it was as big a disaster as it was bound to be; however, i didn't manage to get a little lucky this time. The pinnacle was losing 20$ in KK vs AA. So i was down to 153$, but decided to play a little more and manage to get back to 175$ where i called it quits. Pretty disapointing as i played about 4 hrs in the end (prob my biggest session) to lose 20$. But i guess that is life...should learn the lesson to not play when im having a bad day. I guess ALL UP for today im actually + 10...however i actually feel sick at some of buy ins i threw away. The 20$ loss AA vs KK was just sick..as i shouldn't have had that much in there in the first place but the rings where fairly inactive and i had to buy back in at what i left with... |

| Keep this thread going guys, good job! I just wanted to chime in to say that I'm not broke yet, despite a lack of updates. Also, there are no updates coming in the near future. You may know that on January 25th I was back down to around $2,200 because I had lost a lot at NL400 and NL600. Since then I had been playing underrolled, which I have been criticized for, hoping that I could dodge bad luck (i.e. have an average run) until I'm properly rolled again. Unfortunately, this hasn't happened. An average run is what I wanted, a bad run is what I got. PokerEV tells me that I'm running over $4,000 below expectation (and no, I didn't run hot before Jan. 25th either), add in coolers such as Underset vs. Overset (3 times = -$2,100) / Overset vs. Underset (0 times = +$0), and you get the idea. I'm sitting with $1,200 and I'll have to rebuild from here. Frankly, I just don't feel like posting a graph at this point because seeing where I once was would depress me heavily. Knowing that I'm still playing with money I had built up from $60 doesn't cheer me up either, because I've spent months and months building from $2K, and all that work is gone now. I will rejoin this thread, hopefully very soon, but atm I need to play a lot of hands and focus on the game, not on the graphs. Keep it up and running, thanks. |

| Day 1. $70 (100%)....... Day 9. $238 (340%) Day 10. away Day 11. away Day 12. $273.34 (390%) Day 13. Day 14. Day 15. Day 16. Was a good recovery today, went back down to $200ish for a large part of this evening. It showed the importance of keeping calm, waiting for premium hands and not tilting. I am please with this evenings work for both the end figure and the way i played. I will probably not step up to 25c/50c until (and if) I reach $1000. even then i would like a buffer I can play with, perhaps $80 over the thousand just in case it dont adjust to it for the first couple of buy ins. night all. |

| I am officially a bad poker player. This will be my last post in this thread because I am now below my starting point and see no turning. I am going back to much lower stakes and practice for a while before I again try to build any bankroll. |

Amazing end to the night, was on the end of a few bad beats, nothing runner runner, but the usual flush chasing fishies calling an all in when i move with trips etc. So the hand in question, loose table me and 2 others have been moving some reasonable sized pots about us, then it goes..... i look down at pocket 5. limp pre flop. Villain 1 (playing loose) moves all in Villain 2 (playing looser) calls and has villain 1 covered Hero, thinks (nobody else to act) says "come on the fives" and pushes all in covering Villain 2 by a few dollars Board 3J9Q4 Hero thinks he is done for. hands get revealed Villain 1 AK off suit Villain 2 A3 suited Hero, takes a while to register as the $66.50 pot moves to him bear in mind we are playing 10c/20c, thats a good pot. Villain 3, who didnt call said "i bottled that - folded 99" Hero smiles with glee and exits |

| Hi Guys, I feel i am alone in this challenge now, anybody still with me here. Chris TC?? anybody?? So I have reached a point where I have a few weeks data and can post a graph. Lessons learned today. I have found it a lot easier by moving down a stakes level to 5c/10c. not due to the quality of players - very similar to 10c/20c. but just the fact i feel more comfortable making moves etc. I have realised that I start to stall and change my game at big milestones namely $200, $300. I need to just focus on my poker more than ever as I hover about these marks. So, the numbers: Day 9. $238 (340%) Day 10. away Day 11. away Day 12. $273.34 (390%) Day 13. $301.18 (430%) Day 14. $271.18 (385%) Day 15. $310.00 (442%) Day 16. $353.03 (504%) |

| Site: PokerStars Initial Deposit: $10 Game: 1c/2c no limit holdem Day 0: $10.00 (100%) Day 1: $18.40 (184%) Notes: Played only about three hours. In the first hour I lost my $1 table stake twice to bad all ins. In the second at another table I cleaned the clock of a "professional" who felt he was too drunk to play the $100/$200 tables. In the third I made about $3 on a lucky all in with a dominated blackjack hand. Despite good results used the Poker Tracker free trial to find a huge hole in my game at AQ offsuit. For some reason AK, AJ, and AT are profitable but AQ is a money pit. |

| Have been really flying the last few days, yesterday did some heads up STT - just to break up the monotomy of ring games, and today placed second in a MTT ($10) rebuy with 20players. Might reach $500 a week or so earlier than expected - although I never set myself dates to hit my BR targets by, just a general area. Day 9. $238 (340%) Day 10. away Day 11. away Day 12. $273.34 (390%) Day 13. $301.18 (430%) Day 14. $271.18 (385%) Day 15. $310.00 (442%) Day 16. $353.03 (504%) Day 17. $406 (580%) Day 18. $467 (667%) Still this evenings session to go - although for some reason I always find sunday poker a little harder to beat. How are the rest of you guys doing? off out for a walk now, then sunday dinner. |

Nothing to add really. Played a bit yesterday and cashed in the Ironman Freeroll and a couple $26 buy-in's along with playing a ton of SNG's, but ended up coming out pretty much even. Think I'm around $996. I'll be done playing due to Finals followed by getting obliterated in Panama City for spring break but I should be back around here after Easter. Good luck to everyone and hope people can keep their broll's pointed in the right direction. |

| Hi all, last 2 days added: Day 9. $238 (340%) Day 10. away Day 11. away Day 12. $273.34 (390%) Day 13. $301.18 (430%) Day 14. $271.18 (385%) Day 15. $310.00 (442%) Day 16. $353.03 (504%) Day 17. $406 (580%) Day 18. $467 (667%) Day 19. $489 (698%) Day 20. $517 (738%) Im happy to have reached $500 , It there or thereabouts equals the highest bankroll I have ever built. Last time I did this - i must admit I worked with it for about 15-20 days, cashing out anything extra i made (usually between $20-$60 per day). Eventually I hit a massive downturn. I admit I tilted and blew $200 in headsup STTs that i wasnt bankrolled. and eventually withdrew the last $75 or so. This time, I will push on towards $1000 I think, and use that as my cash base and withdraw my daily winnings. Any opinions welcome. Stuventus |

| Been a pretty pathetic run for me as of late...tho i haven't played that much. Day -5: 10$ .... Day1: 50$ 100% .... Day9: 195$ ~390% .... Day13: 270$ ~540% After i hit 195$ it was like up and down from 170$ to 190$ for 2 days Eventually got to 200$, and then quickly went up to 225$ then quickly down to 190$. Then had a pretty decent day where i went from about 210$ to 270$ with about 1 1/2 hrs play. When i play .1/.2 blinds, im buying in for the 20$ max, so this explains some of the jumping (i sometimes lose like 25$ pretty quick then have to work it back up over the next hr etc), but i started playing some .25/.5, buying in for the min and playing short stack strats, and that seems to be working pretty well. If i manage to hit a big pot (about 40$...then i top up to the 50$ max and start playing "normal"...because it only costs me 20$ (ie same as .1/.2 blinds and i am much less likely to get stacked as compared to if i am trying to play with 35$ or something). However, if i only double up to 20$, i just leave the table, because i can't afford to buy in for 40$ total (to top up) and playing with 20$ in NL50 is kinda in no man's land in terms of the hands you want to play. |

Actually, I've been running pretty bad of late, but my initial depositor bonus kicked in (free money is always nice). Does anybody know about any reload bonuses offered at Stars? |
