How are you playing it? If you are going all in PF with it you have to remember, it's only a strong drawing hand. You need to post some of the hands you have lost with that. You will get a good critique on how you played it.

i usually go raise with it, perhaps too much. if i have 2000, ill usually raise to 4-500 hoping to push people out, but everyone calls on PP and i get outdrawn. So recently Ive just been limping in, and still lose.

how would you play it?

Don't ever limp with AK!

Raise to limit the field and to increase the size of the pot. It also gives you a bluffing/drawing opportunity on the flop depending on your position.
Another thing-Don't base all of your judgement on a couple of unlucky times you have been playing it. It hits an ace or king very often(1 in 3) and when it doesn't, evaluate the situation and most likely fold.

AK does best againist few opponents. You don't callers staying around to out draw you. You must make them pay. And yes, it is only a good drawing hand, nothing more.

Never Say Never Again <-- James Bond reference! I would apply this to "ever" also.

The only time I wouldn't consider raising with them is if you are at a table with someone with a huge stack raising/reraising everything. Or if you can "afford" to do it...in certain situations.
