| I didn't have many specific goals, most of it was mentally being able to play the game multi-tabling 100%. While I'm still not there (not sure if I'll ever be at 100% all the time), I'm definitely getting closer. Not doing anything extremely stupid, starting to recognize the mistakes as I make them, which although it doesn't do me any good now, helps me out in that I'm recognizing quicker what the correct move is. The mistakes are also getting less and the ones I make (usually not betting when I've got a hand where opponent probably has overs) aren't costing me much. The one goal I did have was to get the $650 bonus, got that and just cleared it today, and I also hit enough VPPs for platinum again this month. On another positive note, had my first $1k+ month ever, $1179 unless I play more tonight, graph attached. Moved up to 100nl, going to try to settle in this month. But how about some goals: - Platinum again - Play 60k hands at 100nl which should be enough to buy and clear another $650 bonus - Run at 1.5+ PTBB/100 at 100nl (I was under 3 at 50nl, so I figure anything above 1.5 gives me a better winrate at 100nl than 50nl) - Continue to get better, review hands, participate in forum, HA section particularly, and just continue to improve And a non-poker goal - lift at least 5 days/week Need to get bigger for the baseball season and I've been doing this the last 2 weeks, just need to keep it up for the rest of the summer. |

| Goals for May: 1 - 100K hands at 50nl FR - LOLZ FAILED MISERABLY only 61k 2 - Take shots at 100NL - PASS 3 - Achieve Platinum - PASS 4 - Study more and more sweat sessions. - FAIL I probably could have got a lot closer to 100k if I had stayed at 50nl and grinded, but I thought taking a shot at 100nl would be better. 39k hands at 50nl FR = +$788 18k hands at 100nl FR = -$202 1k hands at 100nl 6max = +$457 100nl FR was pretty horrid to be honest, had a 10BI d/swong, but managed to recover a fair bit of that at 100nl 6max, and I managed to run goot tonight at 100nlFR. A little disappointing but as you will see from my graph it coulda been a whole lot worse. Accumulating a nice wedge of Fpp's as well now, hopefully in 2 moths time I will achieve supernova. Goals for June: 1. 75k hands 2. Profitz 3. Continue at 100nl (FR/6max I dunno yet I'm confused!) GL everyone in June. |

| Didn't play anywhere near as many tournies this month due to being a bit ill for a week and a busy time at work. But it wasn't bad ending $280 up with 5 final tables. Only problem didn't convert any to the all important top 3s. Happy that it was bad fortune rather than bad play though. Feeling gooooood about the tournies and there's cross-fertilisation of ideas between the ring and the MTTs which is getting interesting. 08maytourneys.jpg (http://www.cardschat.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=10862&d=1212281704) Also picked up $300ish on Full Tilt from the CC Saturday game with a 1st, 2nd and 3rd in consecutive weeks, which was nice Ring Continues to be new and interesting for me and I am learning more daily. Ended April with a ten buyin downswing at 50NL so started May at 25NL to work out if it was variance or something else. I think I worked out some things and ended the month (in the last 10 days) playing 50NL again and feeling very solid about it. Total hands = 22,491 Profit = $720 $/100 $3.20/100 25NL hands = 13,092 Profit = $454 $/100 $3.47/100 50NL hands = 9,354 Profit = $259 $/100 $2.77/100 (any discrepencies in adding the two the result of accidentally playing PL, which I always seem to pick up KK at) 08maytotal.jpg (http://www.cardschat.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=10861&d=1212281416) And just for completeness (and a bigger sample), here's my entire Ring career to date starting in January. Came at it from the start as a long-term thing and continue to think that way. I've learnt a lot but know there's a lot I still don't understand. jan-may08.jpg (http://www.cardschat.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=10863&d=1212281784) Goals for June. 4bb/100 for 50NL 40,000 hands Drop down to 25NL if I feel I need a tune up Win Sunday Warm up Get my Stars opr "full history" ROI% above 0 (beautiful ITM, crap return so far since I moved from Party, I blame sample size ) |

I love the goals you set ... except the $/100. YOU HAVE NO CONTROL OVER THOSE NUMBERS, ONLY ON THE PREPARATION AND DECISIONS THAT WILL RAISE YOUR % TO ACHIEVE THOSE NUMBERS!!! I can't stress, enough, how important it is to shift your focus from the outcome ($ won, or potentially won over "x" amount of time)... to the process (everything you can control). You can't control winning, buddy, so try to stop focusing on it! Keep concentrating on your mental game, as you stated above. You're on ther right track, for sure! Good luck, Dayne |

| I'm pretty sure the only goal I set for myself in May was to crush 25NL, and well I hardly played it. Here is how the month broke down. ![]() I am really dissapointed with how much I played, I messed around way too much at games I shouldn't be bothering with. Heads up limit? What was I thinking. The 1000 hands at 2NL was me trying out 24 tabling, it clearly didn't go too well but I did manage to keep up with all of the action. I just hated how when I never actually saw the results of each hand when I got to showdown because another table would pop up right away I am thinking that I'm going to keep trying to play 50NL for now, I am not really bankrolled for it yet (I have $840), but it doesn't seem too much different from 25NL other than people respect raises more. I can 3-bet and even 4-bet people light sometimes and they'll fold, that never happens at 25NL. I find that I play much more aggressively at 50NL and it works well. Here is my complete graph for the month, it's really swingy. Oh and I won $100 in tournaments too. ![]() Goals for June Play 20k hands at 50NL or 25NL Finish reading HOC books Make Gold Star More playing, less reading forums and junk! |

2. somewhat FAILED: only played a few hundred, but shown a profit 3. SUCCEEDED: this actually went way better than I expected. Got solid profit at 10NL, 25 NL started bad but i'm now break even and should be profitable from now on. 4. FAILED: couldn't do it as I played most 10NL on other sites. Too much site hopping as i played bodog, everest, pokerstars and tilt. So, the goals for June: 1. Play more than 15k hands at 25NL. 2. Get at least bronze ironman status on full tilt to get the mid-year bonus. 3. Get silverstar on pokerstars 4. re-read harrington on cash games now that i have a better feeling of how this works 5. Consider moving to 50nl by the end of the month. I'm already rolled for it, just not confident enough about my play yet. |

June goals: Play ~10k hands at 50NL. Focus more on exploiting "good" players' tendencies. Continue opening virtually all hands on the button. Study continuation betting using PokerStove and Excel; figure it out. Write an article about it. |

I used to be one for monthly evaluations and goals but not so much anymore as I'm gradually coming to the conclusion that having fun at whatever I'm playing is my main goal. In the shorter term my interests fluctuate enough that setting goals, even just a month away, sometimes runs contrary to the shorter term fluctuation so instead I just temporary targets which I may or may not decide to follow up on. So, for the last week and forseeable short term future, my target is to figure out the basics of PLO. I don't forsee it being worth my while to buy PT3 for Omaha as well so I should come up with some program/method for tracking my results. |

| To add to my previous goals post: Im starting with a tiny $5 BR for my limit grind. I want to see if its possible for me to build a limit BR from here. If not, I'll just deposit. So, my main goal this month is just to build a limit BR. So BR goals this month -Build BR to min of 300 BBs, maximum 500+ BBs -3K+ hands. Its small size, but I dont think I'll be MTing and I only get a few hours a day to really sit down and play. So this seems reasonable. -Have a BR to try MTing next month at .02/.04 limit |

| June Goals: take a day off poker for my bday(tomorrow and a year away from my first vegas experience!) stick to BR management. ill start with 25, get to like 100 and jump up to 10nl, get to 200, jump to 25 and play way too agressive and lose it. read HOC that i bought yesterday stay the hell away from the 3.30 rebuy tourney that i love/hate so much play 15k hands+ and hopefully get rolled for 10nl |

| First of all im with you on the rebuy (grumble grumble). I never made any goals last month and my goals for this month are not really money/profit related. 1) Keep my BRM going which is the only decent part of my game right now, even if we get another pro playing or whatever if im not rolled for it, then im not playing it. 2) Since I have been swinging so bad just make sure I keep my modest Bankroll alive. 3) Study more the mathamatics of poker, I have a genral idea of pot odds but I need to work on this betting maths and so on. 4) Work on the range of hands I play and learn a bit more controlled agression when I think im ahead. 5) The only real long term goal is to get enough FPPS for my 1st poker book. |

| I've never done monthly goals before, but I figure it's a good time for me to start. I'm quite satisfied with my May stats. Although all my wins were wiped out by my dalliance at NL25, I'm feeling comfortable with my game at NL10. June Goals: 1. 10k hands at NL10 with a BB/100 of at least 5.0. 2. Be more careful selecting tables, and don't be afraid to leave a table if the action dries up. 3. Post a net profit with AKo and AKs (both hands are losing for me in May). 4. Not play a single hand at NL25 until properly rolled. |

| re: ***June goals/May results*** poker DIdn't set any goals for May, I figured I would just play as much as I could which wasn't much, and see how it goes. Had a good month overall considering I didn't get a chance to play too many hands really. Stars gave me $5 bucks like 2 months ago, which I have slowly been grinding a bankroll out of as I was awaiting my full tilt withdrawal which took about a month, so I decided to just keep that money and start over. ![]() Goals for June: -Play 20k hands -Move up to 25nl -Post more hands -Reread HOCG -winrate 4bb/100 + |

"play well enough to sustain a 1.5 PTBB/100 winrate over the long run". That's just not a measurable goal. But you are right of course, and I'm never making money goals in the short run. But assuming I'm playing wining poker, the more hands I play, the more likely it is that I win at my winrate. |
