July Goals Recaps + August Goals

Did I seriously just start this thread? If so, awesome.

July Goals

1. 7,500 Hands at $25nl.
Passed. At the $25nl level, I played 9,831 hands, mostly in the 2nd half of the month and when I moved to PokerStars.

2. At least 8 sessions of 5-tabling, and at least 5 sessions of 6-tabling
Unfortunately, Holdem Manager doesn't tell me how many tables I had going per session, but from memory it was rare that I didn't 5 or 6 table. Passed.

3. Finish 1/2 of the Harrington on Cash Games Volume 2 Book
Failed. I'm sick of reading. I'll start it up next month.

4. Make my own video cash session with commentary (post to cardschat)
Passed - I did a sweat session with bw07507 that was pretty solid, and I did a funny WSOP movie that everyone loved.

5. Meet up with the CCers in Vegas. Play some cash game poker!
Failed. I certainly tried and even made plans ... just couldn't find AlienGenius and Jane got sick!

Here are the stats for the 25nl level for the month of July.

Hands: 9,831 ( a new career high for a month)
Profit: $216.65 (a new career high for a month)
bb/100: 4.41

Let's compare that with June:

Hands: 8,203
Profit: $196.85
bb/100: 4.80

The rest can be read in my blog. I'm going to seriously think about my August goals and post them tomorrow in this thread.

Here's July results.. they were pretty straight forward.

1) Get back to $50 NL

PASSED!

2) Minimum of 15,000 hands

PASSED! Managed 21,090 mixed between some $25NL FR, $25 NL 6 max and $50 NL FR and a smattering of PLO hands

3) Show a profit!

Not only showed a profit but had my most profitable month at rings ever. Up $643.35 for the month and a BB/100 of 5.95!

cant remember july goals but i didnt have many, mainly just getting in a large bulk of hand which i didn't do.

So August Goal (singular)

Bored of full ring now so play 6-max/HU until 1 of 2 things happen. I learn how to play 6 max or i go busto (with some slight variations)

July recap:

Ring for the month sucked, totally and utterly sucked. I don't feel like going into detail but my -1k day at 200nl kinda killed any shot at a winning ring month, plus I'm over $400 under ev for the month. No way in hell I'm posting a ring graph for the month, just too deppressing.

Luckily I didn't only play ring this month, and had a $2.2k cash in the Sunday Million, which I bought in for $175 worth of fpps.

So despite my goal being grinding 100nl, I actually took a shot at 200nl, as mentioned above, it failed miserably, went back down to 100nl, grinded a bit more, took another shot, failed, repeat another time, and now I'm in the midst of another shot that I think is actually going well. I'm also about to clear the $240 deposit bonus and relatively close to another $650 bonus.

I also had a goal for lifting, and I may have come a bit short, but that's because we had like 7 games in 10 days and I pitched 2 of them, so I was giving my body rest. We just lost our last playoff game though tonight, so I should be able to get back to going at least 5 days/week.

Oh, plus I made platinum, posted on CC, and all that jazz.

August Goals:

Platinum again - this is the easy one, only ~20k hands at 200nl

Continue to post on CC - easy one #2

Work to improve and finally profit at 200nl, don't be afraid to move down after losing a few buy-ins. Once profit + 6k BR has been acheived, start to seriously grind 200nl for ~3k hands/day, but don't rush this process, not good for a losing player to grind a ton of hands, need to focus first on making good decisions and plugging leaks

Can't think of any more formal goals. I kinda like to wing it anyway since I don't know what's going to come up. I've made goals the last few months and the goals have changed within a few days each month.

July Goals:

1. 75k hands. - LMFAO

2. Pass Goal 1 and achieve Supernova! - Not quite, still need 6k vpps

3. Run goot at 100nl, one time plz! - In my f'kin dreams .

July was pretty much like June - err shit!

Here's my graph, good comeback imo! This is not total profit for the month as I spew tilted trying to qualify for the sunday million so take $150 off, so it's like totally poooh month!


Aug Goals:

1. Easy one to start off with - Achieve Supernova.

2. Grind some 100nl FR - Play some 6Max - total 50k+ hands

3. Study lots this month.

My main goal was to play 80K hands, I failed and ended up with only 68K. A major contributor to that is a breakeven run (in big bets) over the last 40K hands that's just draining me.

Apart from that, my only goal was to play well and move up as high as possible. I think I played well for the most part, and I went as high as 1KNL, but I had an absolutely atrocious run there (-16ptbb/100 over 2,500 hands, ooooooh yeah).
While I still ended the month in the green, this was a serious blow that I'm still recovering from. Thanks to being Supernova now, the rakeback for this month is $2,200 which lightens my mood somewhat.

August goals:
80K hands
Get a foothold at 1KNL

I think until I become a better player, I shall just leave genral goals,

Satty into the sunday 200k every week.

Play some 1 dollar mtts and afterwards review all my hands and follow some good advice written here.

Try to get on the BOP top 100 at least once.

Keep grinding the 18 seat sngs and make a profit for the month, which should be easy to do (goads gods of verience).

Well i didnt set any goals last month, so ill just recap the month, and set goals for next. The month was a good one. Made my first deposit at PokerStars and never looked back. I deposited $50, and am not currently sitting on $230, so not bad at all. Hit my biggest downswing right at the end of the month, eating into my profits considerably, but im still very much in the green for the month. Graph attached below (i only got Poker Tracker again about half way through the month so i probably played abt twice the number of hands.) Ive recently moved up to a 5NL and 10NL mix, but think i might drop down a bit to recoup from this downer.

July:




August goals:

1. 30K hands played, of which i want at least 10K at 10NL

2. Finish on the FT of one big MTT (360+ entrants)

3. Build BR up to ~$600 and look to move to 25NL

4. As I go up in limits contribute more to the HA section to improve my game

July started as the worst month in recent history, and ended as the best.

July Goals:
1. Don't play NL($0.25) or $0.50/$1. Succeeded through a loophole of playing PL($0.25)
2. Bankroll = $250 ($300 would be optimal). Beat that, and then some.
3. 13,000 hands. Failed. Only played 7500 hands, but blame that on work and a renewed interest in SNGs.
4. Post monthly profit across the board (all games totaled) Success! For the first time ever, I posted a profit in both ring, and SNG/MTTs.
5. Focus on 4-tabling. Success. Generally played 4 or 5 tables comfortably.
6. Stop posting blinds out of position. Success.
7. Silver Star (new goal, thanks to Poker Stars double FPP week) Success. This goal almost busted me due to a horrific swing at PL($0.25).

August Goals:
1. Maintain better than 1.5 cents/FPP playing 210 FPP turbos (I'm using these games to convert my FPP, and so far they are very profitable)
2. Play $5 SNGs with T$ only (weird experiment this month. I'm not using any of my BR to play SNGs, just whatever I earn from the Sunday $100K satellites)
3. Post $200 monthly profit (equalling last month)
4. 10K hands at PL/NL($0.25)
5. Maintain Silver Star
6. Final table an MTT (this goal is staying here until I hit it)

Well my July goals kind of got scrapped because i was so confused about what limits to be playing and how many man SNG's i should be playing. Therefore i took time out and had a serious think about what i should be playing.

recently moved my bankroll to pokerstars and Full Tilt and after a few weeks say of a feeler around the tables and trying out different things i think im going to play cash games at Pokerstars and SNG's, Tourneys + MTT's at Full Tilt.

1. Stick to my goals and playing plan.
2. Play 12k hands at 10nl
3. play 40 9 man SNG's - $2.25 Buy in
4. Play 20 45 man SNG's - $1.25 Buy in
5. Play 20 90 man SNG's - $3.30 Buy in
6. Play 20 $2.25 MTT's
7. Play 20 $0.10 MTT's (Abit of Fun)
8. Finish Harrington On cash Vol 1

Ran great for the first half of july then bad for the second half. All in all my best month ever. Also won 3 sattys to sunday million and took cash (2 FPP sattys and 1 $29 satty). So I was right around 2k profit total this month. Ive been getting bored of FR though and I think Im gonna start playin 6max again.

July Goals:

40k hands FR - Pass 60k hands

Profit and run well for a change - Succeeded for the first part of the month

Move up to 50NL if I run well enough - Was there for awhile, then decided to withdraw a bunch to get a new TV


August Goals:

Play 25k hands of 6max

Watch a lot of stox videos

Read The Poker Mindset

Stop Getting So Upset When Losing

Don't Move up to 50NL until I have atleast $1500 BR

My goal for this month as every month, is to make $.

I had a rough month due to bad beats, but still pulled out of the red and made some gains before July ended. I am exclusively a 6-max ring player now, and have no desire to make any other goals, such as # of hands, time spent, etc.

No goals for July as June was a terrible month for me...

July was a little better, ran 3.19 BB/100 on a graph that looked more like a heart monitor. I started out the month very running so hot (~12BB/100 through about 10K hands, but then began the downswing.) Finished up w/ around 20K hands and a rising graph at the end of the month.


August goals are:

1. 3.5 BB/100
2. A more consistent graph
3. Get more comfortable w/ 50NL (taken a few stabs so far and ran pretty break even.)
4. Final table a MTT on pokerstars (play mostly ring on tilt, and MTT's on stars)
5. Finish my community service
6. No more poker when i've been drinking.

Last two are the most important, but we'll see how the month goes.

Slight edit on my goals. I'll be 2-3 tabling 2nl instead of playing 1 table of 5nl.

My July really sucked. Bad.

I started out ok, but about mid-month, I just went in to the dumper in tournaments, and completely boffed at a couple of full-ring attempts.

All sites but Pokerstars bankrolls are at $0.00-0.04. Pokerstars is reduced to playing the 10NL SnGs.. and maybe the 25NL money added.

August? Heh...
Goal for August is to not end up a freeroll whore again.

Sigh, not even a full day has passed and Im already bored with cash games. LOL. So...goal revised so I can do something I enjoy.

PokerStars:
-continue to do well in Micro-stakes SNGs
-continue to steadily increase BR
-Try and win BOTP again
-Get a 1st place win

FTP
...Ive fallen so in love with the $3 super turbo SNGs
-Play $3 ST SNGs and see if I can make it a profitable month.

July Goals:
-Read some poker books (I got 7 to read, should be finishing like 5 of them) Failed, almost finished one


-Make some BR at Full Tilt (about $1 now, should be like $100 at the end of the month) Failed, but I did manage to make it to $75

-Build BR on Titan Poker to $200-300 (starting at $100) Failed, I was almost there before I started running bad in Omaha8

-Make a Final Table in a MTT and film it Failed because I mostly conentrated on cash games, must have played like 5 tourneys. I did have a 17th postition finish

-Avoid partypoker unless they give free money Success! I did get $25 in my account

-Build Nordicbet BR from 1 euro to 25 euros Failed and I never want to go back to this site.


-Start from nothing on Unibet and build to 10 euros Failed, I think I won like 35 cents from the one freeroll I played

-Have fun Great success, I had a lot of fun

-Get laid like a rockstar Only a few instances where I could have gotten laid when I wasn't in that headspace.

Don't seem to have done one of these in a few months, so I don't have any July goals to report back on.

Anywho, here goes for August:

1 - Re-read Read 'em and Reap, keep practicing tell identification with televised poker games. Let's say add tells on 20 new players to the database, so it's quantifiable.

2 - Stick to my +ROI games. So no HU LOLmaha, no HORSE, no Razz ring games and no MTTs (I'll make an exception for MTTs with an FPP buy-in if I feel the need to scratch that itch). If it weren't for them I would've had a winning month last month.

3 - Play 100 SnGs.

4 - Find a new job (not poker related... though I guess poker could get in the way )
