| Joined a new secret club today. I just became a member of a very special club today. Not sure if anyone one else here is even a member that I can think of. It is the dreaded 500 BB loss in 2 hour club. I got stacked 5 times in two hours in 25$ NL on PS. I got ran over 4 of the 5 times. The only time I was behind was 2 pair vs a set on the flop. I am to lazy and disgusted to dig out the hand histories. I flopped top sets twice and was all-in after flop both times and got out chased by overpairs catching their 2 outs. AA run over by flush draw (all-in after flop no less). KK called to river by A2 with (10 7 2 5 2 board) and catching a third 2 on river. Rules to my new club. First rule: We don't talk about it. Second rule: Don't aknowledge anyone else who you know is a member. Third rule: If you gain membership twice, quit poker!!!!!!!!! Secret hand shake: a pat on the back while saying, it can only get better tomorrow. Anyone else a member? |

| I've gained the membership twice on Bodog... Really, I don't want to talk about it. It's not just beats, but monkey tilt incorporated too... Still, I've gained back my losses and more. So, there's light at the end of the tunnel at least. |

| re: Joined a new secret club today. poker Yep, definitely something going on at PokerStars and every other poker site out there. Something called downswing. But five buy-ins in 2 hours is impressive, I must admit. You should get a jacket or at least a certificate for making that club. |

| I joined that club about a month ago myself. If it makes you feel any better I went on an upswing with some fury shortly after, and made it all back plus enough to move up in stakes. Hopefully there's good things to come for you soon. |

This just shows people why you can't and shouldn't ever play above your BR. Even if you're a good player, like I'm sure Titans is, swings are inevitable, at times there is no way to avoid them because running bad is just a part of poker. Titans will eventually overcome this type of adversity because he plays within his BR limits, but many times I keep seeing posts here where members play behond their BR, claiming that they play tight and therefore will not go broke. The hands described by Titans here will get anyone stacked, for example there is no way you're not putting all your chips in with top set on the flop if opponent gives you that opportunity, even bottom set for that manner, its what you should and want to do with that hand. We've all been there, where opponents hit their 2, 3 and 5 outers, and occasionally it will happen 5 times in a row, like in this case. I once read in a poker book (I believe in 1 of the Sklansky books), that it is not uncommon to lose 10 times in a row with KK. Yet, if we're given the chance, we will move all-in PF with that hand virtually every time. I hope this thread serves that purpose, to teach people to play within their BR limits. Titans, I'm sure you will eventually make it back. GL to you. |

This is just a small dent in the BR but still hurts to see hard earned money sucked away that quickly. I have been slowly bleeding away money all year so far. The last two weeks I finally was winning and had about $150 of it back. Oops. I was multitabling with 4 tables. I only got back into the table where the first one happened and then it happened again. I just stopped playing at the others when I got stacked. That way I made sure I did not go on tilt and lose even more. At least I see FP is having about as good a year as I am having. Club jacket: Poker table green and a silk hanky in the pocket to use when crying. |

| I had a similar run to that back in January. My horror story has our hero losing 8 of 10 full houses in about a one week period! 3 of them the villain hit quads and the other 5 the villain had a better FH. The two that I won I managed to only scrape out a buck or 2 from the pot, the 8 I lost I obv lost my stack each time. |
