Jesus Fng Christ I blew up again Fudge. this is like the third tourney (1500 gteed and a couple other buyins) that i have absolutely lost it. All three of em I was absolutely guarenteed of the money in less I did something stupid, this one I was third in chips with like 40 left (27 paid). I wouldnt care so much if I was just set to bubble but I was in great position to win or come in top three... I was even taking breaks outside to avoid playing too many hands. I have a great read on my table and of course get table changed to a table full of fish. I make on bad read lose about 15 percent of my stack and standard new moron play I go broke two hands later, dont get me wrong the guy made an absolutely horrible call considering we were basically even in chips but both of those hands that I lost were in a set range of hands I told myself I wouldnt play at that point and I fking did it anyways. I played pretty much error free for 2 hours and blow up and that is exactly what has happened my last three tourneys where i was set to win... and now I think I will be a headcase for as long as I play. I think I should stop playing for a while. Anyways needed to vent still dont feel better but whatever.I seriously have gotten worse at poker, and by saying getting worse at poker I mean my mind just isnt sharp or patient enough anymore and its really frustrating the hell out of me.

Good, now you know one big hole in your game. You will learn from what happened, and what you described here. Good work -- fix the hole now. I suggest learning to pace yourself for long hauls, and dont get chancey near the bubble thru nerves, impatience.

I would try just sitting out completely if you feel that you can make the money. This way you can maybe get over the self destruct sequence. Cash in a few and then the feelings may improve as to what is or is not a safe play. I understand where you are coming from, because I too seem to have a point that boredom or something takes over what was a well played game. Restraint is often the hardest part of the game to get under control. If you can master that then you will improve your game three fold I think. GL on and off the felts

re: Jesus Fng Christ I blew up again poker Hang in there. This is also the story of my tourney life lately. I play well, get into a great position and then let myself get drawn into a hand that I'm not certain to win. All it takes is one lucky idiot.

good luck just try and play patient for when you do get a big chip lead. or once you double enough to where you know you will get into the money just take a half hour break. I have this happen alot i will get a big chip lead but somebody at my table has alittle more then and knocks me out of the tourny

Whenever you get in that sort of position, the best thing to do is to play as tight as you can. A lot of people take the mentality that they have a lot of chips, they can afford to play more. This is dangerous, because you often find yourslef playing with cards, that you normally wouldnt play with, and you start calling silly bets, just because you have money. When you are sitting in a good position, you can afford to sit tight. Bide your time, and only play those really strong hands. This will give others time to knock each other out.

I happened upon the method accidentally though. Playing the 2:40 $500 gtd at Blodog, I did better than I expected. Was chip leader when it was time for dinner with the gf. I autofolded, went to the Alehouse for a burger and a pitcher, and came back an hour and a half later to find myself shortstacked but alive at the final table. Finished 4th. That was my first cash, after going through a series of very impressive crash & burn scenarios when poised to cash. Did it a few more times until I regained my confidence in my late tourney performance. It's like viagra for my poker abilities. (that won't get me banned, will it?) |
