You're sort of in a tough spot. You need to define what you mean by "good money". With your BR where it is, there isn't much cross over between where you should be playing (what levels, etc) and making "good" money. However, it is quite possible to use your existing BR to gain good ROI and continue to build until you eventually move up in levels.

Just today, I read an article by Chris Ferguson on BR management. He said never put more than 5% of your BR into a cash game or STT, never more than 2% into an MTT. I guess he would know. This is the guy who turned $1 into $20,000 by patiently playing the small stakes tables (even though he`s a millionaire) and building his BR. He says he`s doing it again, only this time he started with no money at all (to make it even more difficult) and had to win his initial stake by playing freerolls.

A full ring game is a cash game with a full table of 10 players (9 on some sites). A $10 No Limit Holdem Game is one where the Big Blinds are 5c and 10c. You will sometimes see such games described as 5c/10c games, but the $10 description is shorter and more convenient. It`s based on the assumption that a normal buyin will be 100 Big Blinds (though you are not necessarily bound to sit down with that amount). Similarly, a 10c/25c game may be called $25, a 25c/50c will be $50, and so forth.

Oh when i say $5 sit and go's, i mean single table games, if you want to go playing other games play for $1, the varience is higher. If you get the oppurtunity the $1 45player sit and gos on pokerstars is where i made my first $200. If you need to do a FT-Stars transfer PM me.

Just played a 45 player donk and ali have to say is EWWW!!! I think my bankroll can handle me playing the $11 games... I havent taken a bad beat in a few days because I have been playing the $11 and $22, I will stop playing the $22 but im sticking with the $11 games because I dont see people going all in pre flop with 4 9 off...If I play the $5.50 games my bankroll will die soon because I will continue to run into these kind of beats...thats how my PS bankroll got eaten alive because I played $5.50 and lower, I have been cashing good in the $11 games so i will stick with them...

If you're as good as you keep saying you are, then you should have lots of success here. EVen though, with just $80 in BR, still very borderline, might want to buldi it up a bit more first. |

re: Im taking your advice poker If you can't beat a lower level you shouldn't move up to get away from the bad play. By that logic you should play against pros. You've got to accept that building a roll takes time and patience. You don't seem to have the patience so you either need to get lucky or you will go bust. Playing $11 SnG with an $80 BR is suicide.

I'm always playing with a BR under $100...(until yesterday ) I play no higher than .05/.10 ring games.....$3 or $6 single table SNG's and the occasional $4 45 or 180 person SNG's........ When I moved up to $15 SNG's I didn't find the play to be any better, so you could still turn a profit there but if you take a couple bad beats in a row the $80 will shrink pretty quick........ tht's why I stick to smaller buy-ins and CC games almost exclusively.....

i had the same kind of thinking as lucky i played in $1 45 person SNG and did pretty good and thought that heck ill move to $5 27 person SNG i did alright in these but if a bad string comes along your bankroll starts to dwindle and you dont want to go back down to $1 SNGs so keep at the $5 ones with 27 people until the bankroll pretty much is so low you have no choice but the $1 ones.....i did this pretty recently....i had like $5 left and played a couple $1 SNGs and lost then i went to 5/10 limit rings until i got up to enough to go to .05/.10 NL rings with around $6 and it just kept in a vicious cycle until im busted with only one FPP point to go to get a bonus of 12.50. i shouldnt have even been at the .05/.10 tables with that bankroll and now im outta luck. take the advice of everyone on resist the temptations to move up until the bankroll is right, if you move up too soon its just one big viscious cycle you dont want to get in. definitly learned my lesson and instead of trying to grow a quick nice bankroll take it slow and it will get there. gl

$1.25 sng's 45 players are about right or 4-5$ sng's 11$ is lil much for your br size right now when you got over a hundred $$ i would suggest the 11$ do you only insist on only playing sng's? play 0.10/0.25 nl or, .025/.050 nl , .50/1.00 nl cash games maybe even 2/4 but not advisable yet 10$ max sit in nl might be ok if you can play well far as cash games but even ten is a lil pricey for that size roll right now but if your good thats the fastest or quickest way to lose it or win it lol Last edited by WOODHIGHLYE : 17th March 2007 at 11:10 PM.

May I hi-jack this thread for a minute and say that after Reading the responses to this thread made me realize that my main problem with BR management is discipline and for those who responded to this thread, I have to thank you for making me realize this as I would always stray away from BR management in pusuit of increasing my BR faster.
