I'm going for silverstar this month

Up to around 1100 VPPs this month. Never been silverstar... I kind of set a goal this month to reach it to force me to increase my volume, so I've played mostly 6 max cash games and avoiding tournaments for now. 50NL has been kind to me, I've been playing like 3 days a week, 4 tabling for around 500-600 hands a session, and I've made around one buy in each day... so yeah I'm pretty sure that's not sustainable and I've been on the upside of variance, but I feel I have been playing really well. If I need to I'll play 0.5/1 in the last few days, my bankroll can sustain it. So root for me in my insignificant objective everyone! Rail if you wish...

And by the way, competent cash players like zach, Chuck, Belgo, etc, how many hands do you play a session? I'm pretty sure 500 is extremely low volume, but thats what I get with a crappy monitor. I wish I had 2...

You shouldnt need to jump to 100NL to accomplish your goal. 400 VPPs should come fairly quickly at 50NL. If I 12-table FR I can play ~750-800 hands/hour, but since it takes awhile to get all 12 tables booted up its usually less than that if I play for an hour then quit. I usually try to play ~1k hand sessions if I'm going to play FR. 6max I 6-table and dont really worry about # of hands, I just quit when I don't feel like playing anymore.

As someone who either didn't make the competent cash player list or fell under the dubious "etc" moniker, I would say that you should be careful about trying to attain your goal. I would highly recommend you take the advice of BW here. Playing 6 tables of 50nl FR usually yields about 300 hands per hour, and if i do 8 tables I get in about 400.

I'm just gonna be playing 6 max right now, requires more aggression, therefore bigger pots, therefore more VPPs for me. And I won't go over 4 tables... not because I can't, I'm actually pretty bored playing 4, but overlapping tables sucks for me and cascade doesn't help either. And yeah, I'm pretty sure I won't need to jump to 100NL for this, just as a last resort as I'll be pretty busy with school... if I do though, it's not like it's a problem, I'm nicely rolled for it and from what I hear the average skill isn't much different from 50NL.
