| im done with online poker. its f***ing bs i just dont understand online poker anymore. i ve been playing hold em for about 2 years at my house and at friend's about 80% of the time i win. i even won a local firehouse 50$ buy in tournament and won 3,000$ then about 2 months ago i tried online poker @ fulltilt... and within 8 weeks i lost 1500$. i do believe the random number generator is ****ing bullshit and is completely rigged for certain players. EVERY single time i have 2nd to nuts , my opponent has the nuts... and EVERY SINGLE time i try to bluff someone and theres over 50$ in the pot they call with a low pair or some shitty high card and ALWAYS beats me. then when i have an amazing hand i get the lowest pots imaginable. i mean im not a bad player, i know how to slow play/read players... but this is ****ing bullshit and im done with it. either im the most unlucky person on fulltilt or online poker is ****ing rigged. |

| or maybe your live friends suck and you take their money easy. Its the reason I dont play home games anymore because I dont really like taking my friends money. Hell I dont even know if they would invite me anymore after the last tourney I walked all over. Come to think of it they have not had me back since then. without details we can not tell you why you are losing so much online. Maybe you are bluffing in bad spots, taking bad lines that dont make sense at all. Live poker has been and always will be easier. or maybe just maybe your not as good as you think you are? |

| just because the buyin is high at your local games does not mean the level of play will be guaranteed better. i like how you blame full tilt / online poker for your losses. home games are rarely filled with good players. i also like how your 1st post on this forum was about how you are quitting online poker. |

| You say your not a bad player and then mention you know how to slow play as an example. Overuse/not knowing when to use slow play is one of the biggest reasons why some players take more bad beats than normal. Good luck in your next venture. |

| just because you know how to slow play doesnt mean you are good and if you are so good at reading people then you should be winning more often than not... read some articles and a couple books, be active in cardschat.com and then give online poker a try again, your forturnes may change. |

| Two different games. Either you learn how to play online, learn the negative variance, learn the tools available, learn the environment, learn what works for you, etc...or just stay with live play. Two months online? You didn't even get your feet wet. |

You failed and now you don't understand it? 2 months!!?? If you're new to online poker 2 months is (at least) the amount of time you need to spend in the micro-limit tables just to get a feel for the game!! Go back my son, eat that humble pie, and start again slow if you wanna even start to "understand" online poker. |

| i like players like you,in italy there are many convinced to know poker for the only reason they win some little event they read 2 books play 1000/1500 hours and then bum a new Gus Hansen is born! Man learn some humility there's a lot of great poker player and thanks to internet you can challenge them,DON'T BLAME THE TOOL thanks it cause it teaches you something, but you are too pridefull to even notice it! |

1. people play live for enjoyment more then to win money, yes there are some players that go just to make money but in general people are on vacation and give poke a shot for fun. 2. you are given a lot more time to make decisions so you can think through situations better and in long run make better well educated decisions. 3. blind structure in tourneys are usuall slower so you get a lot more play for your money and because of that it is a little less of a crapshoot. 4. tells, and man there are tons of them 5. with money being harder to get online most players playing online are winning players because most bad players dont take the effort to put money online anymore (this is not everyone, there are still fish but a lot less) |

| I'd disagree with 1 - you oughta see how serious some of the live games I deal get: and they're free entry with only a drink card on the line I'm not saying one's easier or harder than the other, BTW, but you might also want to consider: - Typically when you're playing live, you're playing for a lot more money. There's no such thing as a 5/10c table or a $5 SnG live. There's a reason you spend longer thinking - it's because you're not playing with pocket change. - Live, you sometimes need the discipline to fold every hand for an hour straight. And there's no such thing as multi-tabling to keep you amused while you do it. - Sure, there's tells. There's also false tells, and you need to spend a long time learning which are which. - The biggest one, for me: live poker dosn't come with a HUD. Like I said, one ain't necessarily easier or better or anything than the other: I dig both. But I don't think one can be written off as easier than the other. |

nah this is something good to discuss actually and can turn a otherwise stupid thread into something good. Quote:
these players dont give false tells, these players usually dont even know what a shower is let alone a false tell. Sometimes they cant tell the difference between their cards. Hud live is that thing between your ears, if you are folding for a hour dont get up and talk to that cute waitress but watch the players and that should be all you need to get all the info you could get from HUD anyway. again there is not cut and dry answer here, some think live is easier some thing online is. For me I have played more live in past so obviously I would think live would be easier. |

I think you also Tilt easy. If you lose to a crap hand and it bothers you for more then a few seconds it might be time to take he rest of the day off. Thinking about it is not going to help. You can't go back. you have to look ahead. At times people play some crazy crap. I come here and ask about the hand. Normally it says I played the hand right. And thats all I need to hear to make sure I didn't play it dumb. Just play your game. Don't play too high or too low stakes. You play smart you'll win. |

| Oh and slow playing usually is a killer online unless you have the nuts. I can have KK and flop a K. But if there is a flush draw on the board you better bet it hard because if you don't that flush will hit. You can only slowplay if you have the Nuts. If there is a chance of them coming back they will. Its scripture. Like if you have KK there will be an ace on the flop. |

| $1500 is alot to deposit... and lose.... Ive deposited $500+ total over 2 months... and finally im starting to break even NOW. Something smells rotten with your online poker. Or hell, maybe you are just unlucky, but I couldnt spend $1500 quickly and just bust out. |

thanks bro, i will for sure try to change my style of play the next time i deposit. no more going on tilt for me. i kinda figured my problem was that, everytime id get a badbeat i would go on tilt. but if i got a REALLY bad beat like if im 95% chance to win the pot, and lose on the river... i f**king flip out and goto like a 50$ heads up and try to double my money... and usually end up losing due to crap luck from my opponent. but w/e i will deposit another 50$ and play lower stakes this time... hopefully i will learn something from this thread. iam also going to start using poker-edge.com and start reading these forums more often. maybe even try cash games instead of sit N goes... thanks again, ill post up on what happens within the next few days to my funds,. |

Number 2 dj, Please think twice before using Poker Edge. I made enquiries into this myself and was told all sorts of worrying things about the software. It sounds good, but I believe regular players would not touch it with a barge-pole. |

Going to have to find a mighty small cash game to play with $50, probably the micro stakes. It is actually very good if you are willing to grind it out. However, I honestly think SNG are the best way to play with a low BR, start at £1 sng with $50 and play well, you will be fine |

think you missed the point I was making, im not saying 50% of the players that have ever put money online are winning players. Im saying most of the people that still have a bulk amount of money online are winning players. |

This kinda backs up what I say about US-friendly sites being tougher. The serious and determined US players will get their money in and out despite all the obstacles put in the way while US casual players can't be arsed and so do something else. In the UK and Europe, it's made so easy to plop down a deposit and to cash out willy-nilly. Hence, US-friendly sites contain more serious players while the non US-friendly sites have a higher proportion of "fun" and "casual" players. |
