If you could get one player to sponsor your company..

I was hoping you guys and gals could help me out...

If you were looking for a professional poker player to become a sponsor for your company, who would you pick?

Keep in mind, integrity is key. Also, eliminate the Ivey's, Hellmuth's, Negreanu's, etc.. Too expensive. Too busy.

I think you mean endorsee or celebrity spokesperson - a sponsor is someone who pays you money.

Aside from that, it depends. What's the audience you're trying to appeal to? Gender / age range / geographic area / social status?

Plus we could pretty well assume poker players were the genera audience, so the other questions still stand - gender / age / geography? High income / low income? Barry Greenstein appeals to a different market than say Joe Cada, and Annette Obrestad appeals to a different one again. Roland de Wolfe? Different again.

I would never put an ad on Joe Cada. I didn't remember he was sponsored by pokerstars because his nose is so huge it's distracting. He can smell bluffs apparently.

I did however see this one time on ebay. "Professional Poker Player Selling Advertising Space" The auction was for him to tattoo a business logo or company name on his hand for a $10k price.

A general description:
Male, plays a minimum of 3 times per week mostly online, however takes a live game whenever they pop up. Has read a minimum of 2 poker books, belongs to several poker forums, and subscribes to two poker magazines. income 30k-60k. Age 18-40. US resident.

Poker isn't his primary profession, however, he'd love to make it his only job.

LOL - almost. Just finishing my masters in business, with a major in marketing.

If I were coming up with a list of names to show a focus group in that market it'd probably include:

- Erick Lindgren
- Joe Cada
- Tom Dwan
- Antonio Esfandiari
- Phil Laak
- Evelyn Ng
- Maria Ho
- Justin Bonomo
- Hevad Kahn

Whether any or all of those names are practical / realistic / whatever is another question of course. Plus I know Bonomo was banned for multi-accounting years ago but I'm pretty sure that's behind him in the public's eyes.

I highly recommend myself. I will be an accomplished pro and poker author(eventually). I'm highly affordable. A consistent winner. People don't know shit about online poker pros anyway, so we can just fake it till we make it. I make a good picture, have a persona that will sell whatever you're selling, and did I mention affordable? No joke, we can do this. What am I promoting myself to pitch?

Jen Harman - Best female poker player in my opinion and she always seems friendly and composed at the table.

Eric Lindgren - Seems very personable and when he finally got his first bracelette seems like he had lots of fans behind him. Also he comes off as the typical all american guy.

All joking aside, is there a reason you are seriously limiting your target market in this way? The number of women poker players who fit your description is not only substantial but growing daily, both online and live.

Lark makes a great point. Not only are women playing poker more and more, but the same ad techniques that work on men work on women amazingly well. Think Victoria's Secret catalogue. Keep the visuals you'd use when thinking to draw men's attention, but choose your message more carefully and you can broaden your demographic without tailoring a campaign for each saving on costs. Also, using me as your pro would help with the ladies. Just saying...

I personally think if you were marketing to someone who knows poker, it would be Jeffery Lisandro for established pro group. Vanessa Rousso for the young up and comers and if it was just publicity then Phil Hellmuth is obvious although he is douch-eee LOL

Erik Lindgren would be my choice. Not too young, not too old. Personable. Good player. High recognition factor. Sports minded.... Don't know how expensive he would be but he'd be a great choice....

this is true...i have notice that dwan is playing the sharks 80 hands more then before...plus how he plays them works as well.....every time he go against ivy he about 80% of the times wins.
