I need to practice keeping my cool

Today I came in 8th out of 630 players on full tilt in a freeroll, had I not lost my head and gotten angry I could have done alot better.
My fiancee was watching and gave me real bad advice twice in a row ...I knew better , but I didn't want to argue with him either. In any case I'll just play more and no longer take his advice!
I did make the final table so I'm glad about that. Just thought id drop you all a line...someday I'll learn

There you go. Afterall, if you made it to the final table on your own, why the heck did he even feel it necessary to "help" you. Absolutely right, next time ignore him and play your game that got you that deep.

I acually did the same thing in a home game it got down to the final 2. 2 fiends were standing behind me looking at my cards. The other player went all in.. I had 2 pair and felt I was befind but somehow called because the other people were watching and woulda chastised me for laying down that hand. He had a staight and I lost the tournament.

Don't be too harsh on yourself. When you're new to the game, making the final table, or any table for that matter, one bonehead mistake can do ya in. It's hard to control the brain farts/Matusow blowups...for some people. My suggestion would be to make sure you take your time, take at least 15-20 seconds no matter what, and keep your hand off the mouse until you've made your decision in your head. Then you can click. I'm sure getting angry at your fiancee is a whole different thing within itself, but I'm sure he's no poker genius/pro, so tell 'em to back off and let you play your game! Or when he gives advice, listen, but don't be persuaded. Doing what you feel is right will bring you satisfaction and help you learn, no matter what happens.

Well making it to the final table with that many players was a great accomplishment. I would suggest not letting anyone help you out if you can make it that for unless you don't mind them giving you tips on what you can maybe do and NOT tell you what to do.

part 2...part 1 was blank!!!

hmmm...that was odd I did type in a reply, however I must have used ghost ink, this time I have the right ink...
AS much as I'd love to blame him for the loss...I was the one controlling the mouse...I bought new ear-plugs today so I can just nod my head and pretend I agree with the advice I missed !
There have been times when he has played my hand ( I had to pee), I'd ask him to holla the cards to me so I could decide...he just decided for me ....GRRRRRR go all in with garbage, or I'd be on the phone long distance and say just check til i get there and hed fold or go all in.
It's these things that made me believe. ...
Men are alot like kids...
they only listen after a few good ass-whippings.
