I'm Such An Idiot!

Okay, last night sucked...and here's my story.

I decided to play a 50 person SnG on Party Poker (NLHE $10/1). I was also playing a side game of 7-card Stud.

I was down about $25 in the stud game, most of the loss coming on a hand with four flush cards on fourth street and NO cards of the same flush showing in any other hands. There were four of us to sixth street and two folded. Only I called with my flush draw and a very nice pot in front of me...my opponent had a very unscary hand so I put him on a pair of Queens and a second small pair. Well, I was right! But no flush card on the river.

In the SnG I doubled early off an AA that pushed allin on the flop when I hit a set of tens. After about 12 hands I was in fifth place with a decent stack. So I just settle into my game looking for the good hands so I can keep adding to the stack.

THEN THE WIFE ENTERED THE ROOM! She needed to fax something and asked if it would be okay (she works nights from home). Thinking that the fax machine was already plugged in, I said, "Sure, it won't affect my game." So she UNPLUGS the Internet line and plugs in the fax phone line! OMG! Then she plugs in the electric cord and my computer (despite my power backup) shuts down. COULD SHE HAVE MENTIONED THAT SHE HAD TO UNPLUG/PLUG STUFF?

Not so bad for my 7-Stud game since I was losing there anyway...but now I have to scramble to get back into the SnG. When this happened I had about 4700 in chips and the blinds were 100/200. Due to various computer/Internet router issues, it took me nearly 20 minutes to get back online. When the table reappeared, we were on the first break with 35 seconds remaining (that helped some). It is the final table and I have the short stack. I was in the SB with blinds of 400/800 and I had 1300 in chips. I called the UTG+1 2XBB raise with my QJo putting me allin against AQo. I hit the Jack and she hit nothing. Two hands later I pushed allin from cutoff w/ KJs and no one in ahead of me. SB calls (small pair) and the BB called with AQo...this is the same player with the same hand that just lost to me. I again get lucky and win the hand. Within just a few more hands I am now in fourth place and lookin' good!

But I can screw up any great comeback. I get KJo on the button and it is folded to me. I raise 3XBB and the SB reraises 4X....I pushed allin! I knew, I'm a complete idiot! Well, my luck ran out as I lost to the AQo high card. The poker gods just did this to remind me that AQ is a decent hand. I was out in 9th position (pay out was 7 players).

BTW, I LOVE MY WIFE! (A hell of a lot more than poker!)

NO no...lets not talk of the poker gods in such a fashion. lol Let's blame this one on the wife!

Do not anger the Poker Gods. lol

Don't worry Cor, my wife does the same thing to me all the time. I've learned that I can't play with her around.

Come on guys...the poker gods let me get back in the game and gain a healthy stack just to be sure I DIDN'T blame this one on the wife. I mean really....calling a huge reraise w/ just KJo!?! Nah, even the wife knows that's a bad call.

Hell, I probably would've been knocked out before the final table if she hadn't pulled the plug!

Psssst. This is an elaborate game of chess you are playing with the gods. The Poker Gods saw your wife messin' with 'em, frowned upon you and your family after you disconnect. They let you back in the door for a quick glimpse until they shot you down for good. It's like an episode of the Sapranos eh? lol

DAMN THEM POKER GODS! DAMN THEM!

It's a wife's job to destroy the things we love. The look on my wife's face in the morning was precious when I was up all night.

I'm tellin' ya! It the damn poker gods! They love to screw with me. They let me get back into this tournament with only two more to die before the money. They gave me the fourth place stack only to yank it away from me (well, and that stupid call I made). THE POKER GODS ARE THE ONE'S F'in WITH ME!

Now, it may be possible that the thing with the wife and the plug was the tool of the gods. She may have been an unwilling pawn in their little game of cards.
