I have a big live tournament tomorrow need some help I need some advice as to go about making a deep run in this. Top 3 places get to go to a tournament of 14 where all 14 get paid The problem is in this tournament there are a few great players and some very horrible ones and the horrible ones outnumber the good ones by a large number. So my question is how should I go about trying to avoid them and not making the wrong move? I know the fish are great for cash games but tournaments they can make or break you and I really wanna place in the top 3.

I dont understand why peopl dont like playing fish. They are good for MTTs to. The often play very passive so if they keep betting the have it...therefor you should slow down. When they do have a hand and your drawing the often give you the odds to chase your draw. They cant get away from TPGK, so flop a set/str8 on K27r board and they have AK/KQ you should stack them. I would much rather play against fish than good players. Its very hard to say I wanna finish top3 and expect to do it in 1 tourney imo beats always happen or you may misplay one hand and its over but just play well get value out of the fish and you will give yourself a good chance. Trust me if you cant beat fish tourney or cash you wont beat any better games either...fish are the first and the easiest if oppenants in the long run to come. TD

I agree with top donk here that the fish will pay u off. But OP is making a point of trying to place in the top 3. With good ppl playing aswell i'd say ur gonna have a hard time. Try find the fish and vaule bet them all the way. And if u have a good hand with a good player then try and mix up ur play a little. He'll know if u have a set by flat calling pre-flop then check/raising the flop. But good luck and have ALOT of patience. Try stick ur chips in at good spots. If it doesnt seem right wait for another one, but dont let ur self get too short stacked!!

It seems to me victory pledge in any tournament - aggressive game on a good hand and dump of a hand of dust. I extremely seldom dare to bluff, but if have dared - I go up to the end. Meanwhile I could win first place on 2 tournaments and it has appeared on prize-winning places in 16

Pay attention to the blinds - pay attention to how players react to the blinds - as they go up, your raise size can go down and be much more effective in stealing blinds. And do not show your cards when you steal blinds. That's just gonna get you called next time. Don't be afraid to put your villain's stack at risk if you think you've got him. You would much rather he have to make the decision for his stack than you. That's all I've got. I've never played in a MTT. |

My first question would be 'What's the blind structure/touney type'. How you attack the game depends on this. Is it a turbo? Is it a deep stack? Blinds go up every 20min or is it every hour? Best of luck. Let us know how you do-win or lose.
