I don't get it

This is a little bit of a frustration post. I have to let of some steam.

A couple of months ago I noticed that when I was facing flush draws, the other pesron was hitting quiet often, at first I wasn't concerned because it's almost 50/50 after the flop if you have top pair, but then I started counting:

Over the last two months I am 1 for 56. That's right my hand w/e it is 2 pair, top pair, trips, has only held up 1 time out of 56 times I was facing a flush draw.

I feel like I am cursed everytime I face a flush draw I know I am going to lose. I just lost a headsup match after the man hit two flushdraws against me when I had a set and top pair.
I no longer know what to do, it frustrates me greatly. As soon as I am facing a flushdraw I am good as gone.

The streak just continues to go, I keep playing trying to get through it, but it gets more and more frustrating when you get burned every time. I tried taking a couple of days off, you know to try to reverse the luck, nothing flush draw = death.

I feel like I am cursed. I know it sounds stupid, but every time I face a flushdraw I lose.

Can you guys tell me your bad luck stories. I am just so frustrated.

How do you know that there aren't a large number of FD that don't get there that are folding before SD??

Are you saying that the last 56 times you where all-in with TP+ against a FD you only won once?

Yeah, there's a lot of info missing. How do you bet your hands? Why would 56 people call on draws unless you're giving them odds to do so? And of course, HillBilly's point.

Do you understand the relationship between odds & outs?

Instead of seeking commiseration, seek the cork that'll plug the hole in your game.

Insanecash: You did not say what game you are playing. If your game is Limit Hold'em, there is little you can do but bet and/or raise. In Limit your opponent is usually getting the right pot odds to call. If your game is No Limit Hold'em, are you betting or raising enough to give your opponent poor pot odds to draw for his flush? Of course, that does not prevent your opponent from calling, despite the bad pot odds. But, he is making a poor decision in doing so, which in the long run makes you money.

Obviously, nothing is going to prevent just plain bad luck and 1/56 is pretty bad. But, unless someone has repealed the law of variance, your luck will eventually turn around, if you can deal with the frustration in the short run.

I play No limit Holdem and mostly headsup. So a lot of times when the blinds get big people will go in with a lot of different hands and if my opponent flops a flush draw it's good game.
I have also been busted out of my last 5 tournaments via flushdraws. I tend to get my money in with the best hand and at this point every time there is a flushdraw on the flop and I know I have the best hand I try to get the person off their flushdraw, but there are enought idiots who still go in and well you know what happens after that.

Wow, the Heads up thing is a pretty important detail. In that case, you can look forward to the reversion to mean. Of course, that assumes that this streak isn't the reversion to mean for 56 previous hands that held.

try not to be too aggressive if you flop two pair, top pair, or a set, wait for the turn at least unless your opponent has gone all in.

For me the flush doesn't come up often, i fold flush/straight draws sometimes.

Ya I have felt that way too, but you have to note how many people are throwing away the flushdraw. Plus if you are having such bad luck why dont you fold agaist flush draws.

If three of one suite hit the board, fold.

Four times in a row (over the last two days) pocket aces have failed me. Twice, I have been knocked out because of it. Today, I was dealt pocket aces (diamond and spade) and the guy to my right went all in. I call obviously and so does the button with Q-T (queen of hearts). The guy gets two hearts on the flop (the last two cards). One on the turn and one on the river to beat me. Four straight hearts - man, I was pissed.

I hate pocket aces.

1 in 56! The problem is you can't be certain how many flush draws folded to your bet. That said, if you are seeing this trend why not just fold to the flush draw? If I lost everytime I got pocket aces, I would fold those too.

change your betting strategy when u have the upper hand....you will lose from time to time but i usually find not slowplaying to get more chips usually helps
