I Can't Beat Bad players Online or in Big Live Tournaments

I have played in many home games in which, I can tell who are the crappy players. (Many of which want to call every hand preflop.) But online, I can't count the times that I have had all my money in with the NUTS (or something really strong) on the flop or turn and get beat by the end of the hand. The same goes if I'm at the local dog track or casino in a big tourny.

Now I know that you can't be upset when you take a bad beat and get knocked out because you got all your money in with the best hand, but it still SUCKS!

Now a theory of mine is that if you are at a table with all donkeys, the chances of taking a bad beat are much higher, because you can beat any one player, but if you get a bad player to call you every hand sooner or later it is going to happen. I might be way off here. So please any thought would be nice.

True, you will get sucked out on more often if everyone is in the pot, but you'll make more money when your hand holds up. You need to resist the urge to play too many hands at these super loose tables. Tighten up your game, they'll still pay you off when you have a big hand.

You are right. Even pocket AA's will only win 30% - 35% of the time against 4 or 5 callers. So yes, if you are up against a group of loose donkey players that will call raises, then yes in multi-way pots they will sometimes win. You are the favorite against each individual hand, but as a whole, your opponents are the favorite.
Having said all that, you only have to have your good hands stand up once or twice against a group of loose players and you will have 3x - 4x your starting chips. Then you can roll from there.
Let the donkeys be donkeys. Don't tap the tank, you'll scare all the fish. And other phrases like that. We want the crappy players to continue to play crappy. If they only play solid poker, it is going to be much more difficult to get their chips.

This is a good example of the importance of position. If you are in late position with a decent holding like 10 10 or J J and 4 people have already entered the pot you need to be real careful. The odds of one of them making a pair that beats yours are real good. You would probably rather be holding some high suited connectors where if you hit the flop hard you will most likely get paid but if you miss you can get away easily.

So your saying that a call, not a raise is warranted in the example you stated above?
If so I highly disagree with this.
As most pros will tell you, one of the biggest mistakes an amateur poker player makes is not raising his/her decent hands preflop, so I'm raising any PP into an unraised pot and calling a raise if the odds warrant it.
Just because your up against donks, doesn't mean you change your game away from the correct way of playing poker.

Bad players create a much larger variance, but in the long run also create a larger profit margin. It's hard to see the big picture when you are in the middle of a streak where these people make bad calls and get rewarded. Thats why bankroll management is so important.

If you cant beat bad players, i fear you will have little chance against the good ones. Bad players is what you search for when playing online.

2/3 of the time the aces lose but when they win against 4 or 5 callers they make you 4 to 5 times your chips. Or you will lose 2 but win 4 or 5 every 3 hands making it still profitable. So every 3 times you are in this situation you profit 2 to 3.
