I can't believe pokerstars

Here is an email i received today....I changed my city to "Cards Chat Obv"

Why are people complaining I don't see how it makes a difference....

Hello Curtis,

PokerStars is glad to contact you.

We have received complaints that certain players have not entered a
valid 'city' in their PokerStars account.

When you made your first real money purchase, the following was
clearly stated: "Your name and address should appear EXACTLY the same
way as in your financial institution".

We kindly request that you change your city to match your actual
location.

Thank you in advance for your co-operation. Please contact us if you
have any questions.

Regards,

Giovanni

That is horseshit, because I see thousands of people every day with fake city names. Examples are like: eat me, your moms house, banging your girl...

Hey, I lived in Banging Your Girl for a while. Nice place but a little big for my tastes.

It's their ballyard, so you gotta play by their rules. They'll catch up to all the fakers eventually.

On a similar note: I remember a big announcement from Stars about not allowing URL's in avatars, but I still see Rail***ds.com in some. I guess it'll just take time to police it. (*** = Google deflection)

Very true. Does it really matter where people are from? It's something to look at while you're waiting for a call or whatnot, but I wouldn't miss it.

The only reason I can see would be if you sat at a table with 50% players from the same city, something may be fishy there. Or, even 2 players from the same city may want to make some people find another table(?).

Well, I for one, like knowing where the players are from. I have lived all over the USA and i can tell a lot about attitudes just from where a person lives.

Not nearly as expensive as when she becomes my girl. That's when the rent goes WAY up.

in all seriousness, though. they should just replace everyone's city with their country, and people won't be able to put stupid shit there, and it will still get basically the same point across

I like seeing where people are from. It's about the only time you get any conversation at the tables; when you find someone from your city and get to talking.

That being said, I have no problem with people putting in gibberish.

^^^this, i remember seeing other sites just having the country and I wouldnt see anything wrong from that, I guess we can't have anything without someone complaining. But I agree I think it should just be your country

I believe its a small island in the North Sea, between Britain and Norway, it may be sunny, but very windy and thats not nice when there are lots of seagulls around

Have guys asking me where "cardschat" is all the time. Use that as my location at all the sites and it's brought more than a couple of people over to join us. Cheep advertising!

btw, Most humble appologies for letting NicktheGreek see it at the tables last winter...

it takes awhihle to get to every player, I kept my RB.com for a month after others were made to change, and that was a month ago and there are still others who have not been made to switch. Just do it, no big deal.

'Same town' could be a concern, but with IM, texting, cells and similar, it's just as likely that 2 bros, relatives or friends from diff cities are in collusion on one cash table.

With the computer capabilities Stars has, if they want info from registration to appear in a player's ID box, then they should just link the 2 automatically and not make it a field you can edit.

I'm going out on a limb here....but if they are trying to cash you out....and there's is the same bank in North Dakota, and you live in S Dakota....do you want your money going into a similar account in N Dakota? I believe that's why they like your city info to be right!

I could be wrong here, but I believe "no chat" is when they've been chat banned by stars.
