Hows Las Vegas In December?

I was thinking of going for to Las Vegas for a break in December, and to play some poker. I think I need to get away from home right now.

I was wondering is this a bad time to go and will it be really quiet?
Are the games tougher at this time, or is Vegas pretty much busy all year round, with weak cash games?

I am going in 11 days and I had trouble getting rooms at good rates some nights because they are so busy. They told me at the Venetian that this is one of their busiest seasons.

Poker is excellent at Vegas tables go play when there is a poker tournament on. Its actually a popular time to go around Xmas.

I was discussing it with a friend the other day and he thought it would be empty in December until New Year, because the weather is cold and its not the sort of place people will think of going generally during the Christmas season.

Im going new years eve and cant wait!! never been before so wish me luck. Maybe Vegas is great in December for both of us!!!

I've been to Vegas for New Years and it is packed. Not so sure about earlier in the month. It's a little cold, but no big deal if you are spending most of your time in the casinos. There's never really a bad time to go to Vegas, in my opinion.

I don't care what anybody says....Vegas is GREAT ANYTIME!!!

Weekend will always generate traffic. Traffic = players at the table.

Holidays always generate a lot of traffic in Vegas.
New Years is particularly busy with Asian influx.

Best time to go is during the week. Weekends a lot people from LA come up which means better players from LA card clubs. During the week a lot conventions going on and a lot drunk conventioneers at the table so you can pick up a fair amount of money if stay sober.

I went to LA 2 years ago on December and it was INCREDIBLE! I played some tables and I really had fun. Its a great place to spend your winter / your life!!! :P

Vegas is awesome! I've gone something like 9 times in two years and it's always a blast. The clubs, shows, restaurants, etc... 24/7 party

Word of caution... Might sound obvious but professional poker players live in Las Vegas. If you are there on vacation like most people, taking advantage of all the free booze, be careful at the poker tables.

I once went to the Bellagio card room around 3 AM absolutely sloshed. I couldn't even stand up. I'm surprised they sat me. I don't remember what game I bought in for but it was for like $400. I lost it in minutes. And to top it off I went to the ATM and couldn't figure out why the machine wouldn't give me more money. Bellagio security finally came over to see what I was doing and actually helped me swipe my card and enter my pin. Still didn't work but it was a bad thing morally I felt they did. I went to bed and my bank called and woke me up asking if I was in Vegas and they had froze my card because they were not sure. Crazy time!!!

Went the weekend after X-mas in '06 for my 21 and had a great time. There were games running everywhere I went. I was also told on that trip that New Years is the busiest weekend of the year second to only the Superbowl.
