| How many tables at a time do u play at? I was watching a video on youtube about a guy who muti tables anywhere from 30 all the way up to 50 at a time. Now I have acouple of questions about this, how do you setup your computer to hold so many tables, at a time, I swear I have the hardest time on my lap-top as it is to do more then 6 but always wanted to go up to 9-12 but how, but frankly don't know how ppl do it. Can someone explain to me how they are able to do it? Now this also has to do with the same thing, but are the swings like way worse, cuz I keep thinking if you if for some weird reason ended up taking like a horrific bad beat at one table, would that really affect your game play at all the table, or would it like continue on to all your tables. I know its dumb but I would just like to know. Is it harder? Are you slower? and just w/e else I might have left out I forget who on here it was but I was reading his blog, and somewhere in there I believe he stated he does something like 24 tables at a time, I can't understand how you set up your computer to do so, can someone help me with this. And btw also wanted to know how many tables do you normally play at? I personally can do up to 6 no problem, never tried any higher then that, and does muti game play affect your over all game play? | When playing many tables the quality of your play is lower as you can't really 'study' the players and play accordingly, plus I always get confused when playing more than 4 tables at once... Regarding computer performances, I'm not sure anyone benched marked how many simultaneous tables one can play - Its actually an interesting question! Of course, one will have to also give the computer details (CPU, RAM, HDD etc.) |

| It depends a lot if you play FR or 6max. FR I usually play 6 tables but have sometimes gone up to 9. 6max I play 4. Also depends if the tables are fast or not. Hands/hour is more the decisive factor for me than anything else. I like to play between 300 and 400 hands/hours. The higher the number of tables the tighter and simpler you need to play. I guess if you play a short stack strategy or rely purely on premiums and set mining it's possible to play 30 tables at once. At the lower stakes you can certainly be profitable that way. On the other hands, there's just no way you can do that if you play 22/18/2 on 6max tables. |

| 30 tables! personally i dont think that would be fun and how the hell do you cope with that making raises or tactical moves on 30 tables surely cant be done! I only play 4 tables, 2 of 6 max, 2 of FR and i find it enjoyable and its the way i like to play personally anymore would probably annoy me just playing 6 tables. |

| re: How many tables at a time do u play at? poker Since I'm still concentrating on optimizing my game, I only play 1-2 tables at a time. If I'm playing a MTT where the blinds are still low to medium, I'll usually have a ring game open on the side to keep myself busy during what would otherwise be downtime while I am sitting out of a hand. |

I don't notice beats. Playing twelve tables I seldom see the outcome of a hand. I usually can't tell if I'm up or down until my session is over. I just play ABC poker and focus on flopping sets. I don't bluff and when in doubt I just lay down. |

| i play at bodog so the max i play is three at a time and i have a hard enough time keeping those straight. no way i could do 30 or 50. that is just a little ridiculous. |

| re: How many tables at a time do u play at? poker I try to keep the number small... when I play ring games... I try to do only two tables... don't want to get distracted with a bunch of tables... need to maintain focus on the game. if I do Tournaments... or SnGs... I would only do one at a time... if I am feeling up for a challenge I would play two at the same time... but any more, and that would be just wasting money in my opinion... |

| I have tried I just can't get used to cascading tables... I gotta tile them. That said I will play up to 12 FR tables at a time. It's quite doable with 1) a big enough monitor and 2) tracking software (pokertracker/pokeroffice/etc) and 3) practice. Your win rate won't (or at least shouldn't) be as high in terms of BB/100 hands as playing fewer tables, but because you are playing so many more hands your $$/hr should be higher. It can get slightly boring and mechanical though compared to playing fewer tables and really focusing on them. |

| I usually play 12 tables of FR and 6-9 of 6max. (6 max is a new and very profitable game for me.) I think it is important to just work up 1 or 2 tables at a time. I went from 4 to 6 to 8-9 and then 12. Believe it or not, I can still chat on aim and look something up on the net when needed. Playing 1 table these days is like watching paint dry but if I played fewer tables, I think I would be able to increase my winrate dramatically. |

I'm only at 6 FR 'cause I don't like cascaded, and 6 overlapped on the laptop is already tiny. I can plug a second monitor into the laptop as an extended desktop, but the second monitor is only a 15" CRT and I have to go to another room to connect to it. Plus I'm playing short stack hit and run at the moment, so I'm forever looking for new tables. And, for anyone playing one table and curious about trying multitabling, start off slowly by adding one table at a time, and use a HUD. |

| When im in low stakes or freeroll mode ill play 3 on ps and 3 on ft at the same time but if im playing mid cash or seriouly late in a fr i like to be down to one or 2 tables max on my screen so i can think and get a drink every so often. |

I'll give it 1 last try. Anyways, if a post hasn't already been done about multi tabling effectively (not sure if Chuck has done one?), then I may do one when I get back from my hols next week. In a nutshell, I have a 17" laptop and I can play 20 tables easily, and upto 24 if I desire. To multi table effectively you need to use AHK scripts, which are basically small programs that you load up that enable you to shortcut your poker tasks either by the click of a mouse or the press of a key. For example, I use a betpot script that has predefined bets at the click of the mouse, ratheer than using the bet slider or typing an amount in. Then you need to look at your layout, ie how you position your tables. There are 3 methods, tiled, stack and cascade. Lastly you need to have a stats tracker, like HEM or PT3 etc. I try to play a simple game, but I'm not nitty at all even when 20 tabling. My FR stats are around 14/11/2, which is TAG I would say for FR. Multitabling doesn't allow ou to make extravagant plays, thats not what MT about. It's about $/hr and imo rakeback or FPP's. Anyhows, if no one knows of a recent strat thread on multi tabling then let me know. If there isn't one then as I said I may do one next week. |

| re: How many tables at a time do u play at? poker I got up to 18 tables. Moving up to 200nl I started with less and am working my way back up to 18. Anything higher and my computer starts having problems with performance. Not sure if I could handle 24 with a good enough computer, but it's definitely not only playing like a nit. Basically you play reasonably tight preflop and then since you're not involved in a ton of hands postflop you can spend some time making those plays. And of course the more experience you have the better you are at analyzing a situation and coming up with an optimal line. All MTs definitely don't just play ABC poker though. |

| The maximum number of tables I tried is 4, more than that it is too confusing as each table keeps popping up for your response sometimes interrupting your hand at the other table. The worst feeling you will get is when you have a monster hand at one table and because another hand interrupts, your monster hand gets timed out and autofolded. Then tilt city. I am more comfortable with just 3 games going at once. You dont get overwhelmed by switching screens. I saw the video of the multi-table play and my head was swimming just watching. |

| re: How many tables at a time do u play at? poker I usually play 1 table. Rarely two. If I do play 2 it might be a ring game and a freeroll. I find myself jealous sometimes that the mega MT players have found a new way to beat the game, but it's just a different way to play it... Part of me wants to to play online like I would in person... One table, disciplined, reading the players carefully and with as little software assistance as possible. On one hand this puritanical view might mean I make less money than I could per hour... On the other hand it's much better for my live game. Last thing... I love sitting in front of someone on 20 tables. It's sort of like playing someone who is sitting out but still paying blinds. I know if they are good they are making money at all those tables, but in my little world they are giving me their blinds 4 of 5 hands. Maybe someday I'll be smart enough to MT. |
