how to laydown KK
i was playing a mtt and had KK in middle position the person before me raised and i reraised then the BB reraise me, the person who raised first then folded (which i expected) i knew straight away that the BB had AA but i didnt listen to myself and pushed all in which the BB called instantly and showed AA they held and i lost half of my stack. How can i bring myself to stop. (its not the first time)

Laying down kings preflop is takes the skill of a poker veteran and seriously good player. On the basis this was a mtt, you will probably never fold kk. In cash games it is possible but rare. Generally you can only fold kings when a rock 4 bets pre flop.
As for the above example. If you knew you were beat, why did you call? |

Don't bother worrying about laying down KK. Chances of you running into AA is 1 in 20. You are more likely to cause yourself more trouble by wondering if your KK is good preflop. Play your KK as you would AA preflop.

Why would you want to lay down KK when you'l have the best hand 95% of the time. Those are great odds. You cant lay down KK preflop because you think someone has AA unless you have one hell of a read.

I've laid down KK before, I was in a tourney fighting for the cash place, i had KK so i made a pretty big raise pre-flop, got re-raised all in, so I folded and waited out so I could make some money. It just depends on how bad you will take it, sometimes KK just issn't worth my time already invested in a 3 hour tourney to not even make cash.

I have the same problem laying down QQ when it's 1 on 1. Tough to make the read sometimes whether its AA KK or AK. I usually just call a reraise with KK and see a flop. The problem I have is letting it go if the flop is rags or no A and I get raised all in.

Hey, first post.
It's hard to lay down KK just ask Jamie Gold. Search Jamie Gold Kings on YouTube...I'd post the link, but youtube doesn't seem to be working for me right now. Let's just say Sammy Farha had a good day. |

Theres no way id lay down KK PREFLOP . If forced to go all in id have to call , im not gonna lay down the cowboys . Now if i raised preety healthy preflop and got called and an ace hit the board id bet half the pot and if someone came over the top and put me all in ....then id lay it down , an info bet is a good way to see if your beat.

Schooling
Only lay down KK to schooling. If u don't know what that is it is when there are several players all in preflop although heads up against any one of the players u are a huge favorite u have to remember u are up against all of those players and the chance that at least one of them outdraws you actually makes u an underdog and u will often lose.
The only other time i lay down Kings preflop is if I suddenly become Phil Hellmuth. ![]() |
