I call the person/deck the dirtiest, foul, completely inappropriate names I can then quickly apologize to my wife and explain to my daughter that I was just calling a person an Aunt but accidentally started it with a c. Then move on to the next one.

Firstly, Swear a lot and jump up and down generally ranting, then I do log off and go for a long walk to clear my head... If it's late at night I just go and watch TV and have a drink... moaning under my breath...

Question: How do you handle "Tilting"

So I've just started going at making poker a second job for financial purposes.

How do you good people handle the tough situation of "tilting". For someone whose had past troubles handling tough hands, I could always use good advice on how to calm myself in those tough situations.

Music has always been a good outlet when something unfortunate happens. Anyone else got any good ideas?

Honestly, as soon as you get a bad beat, STOP PLAYING. Some players with extremely strong mentality can continue as normal. Here is my experience:
I have been playing for about 5 years regularly. If I'm grinding small stakes and take a small bad beat I can keep grinding. Playing a small % of your bank roll makes the bad beat less painful.
However if I'm playing a tournament and I go out on the bubble with AK suited vs 3 5 off, after hours of good play (one of the most painful bad beats there is) I will ALWAYS stop playing for that day and I might even leave poker for a couple of days. If you are IN ANY WAY pissed off or feeling unhappy STOP and play in a day or two.

PLEASE TAKE MY ADVICE. Please. Thanks.

If you made the correct play you should never get upset over a bad beat. Control what you can control. If you made the correct play and got unlucky than so be it. You can't control the cards, you can only control what you do with your own hand. Don't let a bad beat effect your play; just continue playing knowing you made the right decision.

Take your time. Take a rest. Do things that you love and let poker wait for you. When you will feel better play again and you results will be better.

I tilted on 5NL and had $25 left in my BR and entered a $25 NL zoom game and played a really good game running it up to $93, then I lost $25 on a hand and called it a day, bankroll was higher than it was before but it was a risky but good mistake to make at the time. Since then I have learnt my lesson with BRM and stick to it by restricting my tables, took me a few years to find the discipline it is so important to stick to BRM

Oh - I scream and mothers that crazy. and often move absurd situation. - I still have it hell knows how long. Poh on when exhibitor with QQ vs. 1010 - The River necessarily 10 - a half woes. but when KK vs 69 and the flop 69 or 66 - it is a shame. what you can think of at the time called all ins with the hand - 69. I despise these people and oblazhivayu mats - and they often consider themselves pro

Walk away... Also analyse what is that is tilting you.

Was it your own mistake? Shake it off, we all make them. Review the hand and look for what action you should have taken instead. This will aid in preventing recurrence.

Was it a suck out/bad beat? Accept that even with AA your gonna lose atleast 20% of the time, and this just wasnt one of them. You never "deserve" to win a hand. Although it can get annoying when you get suck out after suck out, but thats poker. And luckily the variance gods usually repay the favour at some point! Also the people making these plays are exactly who you want in the game, they will give you their chips far more often than you take yours!

Reviewing your session after tilting often helps because you see things in a better perspective once you have relaxed again.

It happens to all of us though, but by keeping a positive mindset and following the above certainly dramatically reduce both the frequency and cost!

Accept the fact that someone's gotta win and someone's gotta lose, and if you are losing now, you will win later, if you are not playing like a donk.
