how do you feel bout your poker game? At times I think wtf does this villain have? Formulating ranges, counting (pot odds, outs, pot equity....) at the same time trying to disguise your hand, I just get lost in translation. I've come to terms that I'm just an average poker player at best but that's ok, probably cuz I don't study or play regularly enough. Poker pulls me back mainly cuz it's so much fun and also for the gambol, but reading this forums keeps somewhat in the loop of trends and strategies. Wondering if others feel the same?

I'm young as well, so I realize that I am inexperienced, but it terms of my pure poker ability, I am pretty confident. The aspect I know I need to work on is my mental game. I need to avoid going on tilt and not get out of my game if some donkey rivers me.

re: how do you feel bout your poker game? i'm at the point in my poker playing that every time i sit down at any of the home games i play in, i feel that no other person playing in the game has an advantage over me. however with every game there is a chance the other players are improving and learning so you must try to do the same with your own play as well.

good topic Hit, makes you think. I know I have had fewer incidents of thinking "he doesn't have that" immediately before calling a guy who obvsiously has the nuts. Used to be a common thing for me... "he ain't got it" ... then out tourney. I've also been able to get better at figuring out what the other guys at the table have in their hands. I got a note from soemwhere that suggested to always practice figuring out what other players have even when you are not in the hand. That has been helping a lot I think. Over all I am enjoying playing less often but with a more concerted effort to play "right".

learn how to calculate odds in your head quick by reading some books, there are some really good tips out there. Its like translating the dead sea scolls sometimes buy once you start applying it its as easy as walking...and of course fine tuning it all to your own style |

Right now I am still learning a great deal because I play a lot more and read on the game a lot. I am starting to seriously study my game. I am s l o w l y building a bankroll and building my skills to start playing micro stakes tourneys/cash games.

Bleh im unconfident with my poker game right now ...im starting to study but if you ask me "what did you learn so far" my mind is going to go blank and i will be back to square one. All in all im going to need more power! "MORE POOWWAAAAAA" and then we will all level up like we're supposed to

I believe everyone is confident 'bout their own game but poker like in pro sports, only the creme de la creme is going to get PAID. Do most ppl have this pipe dream of "making it" is what I'm trying to get at? Sure we know how to shoot a jumper but can you do this under game situation against a good defender...applying poker principles, adjustment and being analytical at the same time during stressful situations is a skill not everyone possess. My 2 cents

I like the way I play (most times) but I do know I am an amateur at best I play in a regular monthly game (about 25-30 guys) and have managed to dominate it this year, but I don't think I'm ready for the WSOP. I usually play online at $1 SnG's and do okay.

I'm by no means a pro, but I earn quite a nice bit of cash aside of the income from my job by regularly playing the $16 18-man sngs at stars. however, does anyone else ever feel like poker sometimes becomes a chore?! or am i just playing too much....

I think poker strictly depends on your attitude that day. If your going into a poker game with the right mindset and staying on your tip, then you will get far in the tourney. If your messing around and watching tv or eating while your playing your focus is reduced and you might go all in on like 6 10.

I find it really hard to lay down good hands. It's as if I refuse to accept someone could have better. In general though, I'm quite happy. I haven't been playing that long and and I'm starting to become much less nitty than I have been recently. Just got to keep on trying to improve. |

re: how do you feel bout your poker game? I know what you are feeling. It is a lot to grasp and keep track of on the fly. I'm trying to get my head around it by playing mostly premium hands and getting as much online practice in as possible in order to develop a poker instinct. I don't enjoy the playing less often part but 100% agree on a more effort to play right. I have been studying some books and forums online, as well as video. I feel my game play has come far in the 9 months I've been playing but I am still just your average player I believe. When I get my br up I will know more I hope.

I'm glad that my poker game has come as far as it has, but I'm aware that it still has quite a ways to go. I'm often fascinated at just how easy it is to backslide into playing poorly. Just a tweak of tilt here, a smidgin of impatience there, and my winrate tanks rather spectacularly. Learning poker is like learning any new skill. You have to force yourself to do things (like calculate pot odds) at the beginning. But, as you plug away, these things become habit. Before you know it, you're playing 8 tables and making decisions based on numerous variables (stack size, bet size, opponent's range, etc) in a matter of seconds.

I think Im a pretty solid player when I play my A game, my problem is keeping myself there and not falling into old habits of making hero calls when i know im beat or over adjusting every time i move up ( 3 shots a 25nl gone bad). However I've read some stuff about my mental game and think that I know the problem now i just have to correct it. with 25nl you cant simply think on the 1st level to crush it. Gotta start thinking beyond what the "standard" poker player thinks about. That, I feel, is my biggest weakness.
