I know without any doubt that casino cash games are no good for me , I have an addiction and cant stop till my momney is gone and the staeks are too high to begin with so my play isn't altered and its not good

I crush our once a week bar tournament , then there are two weekday night games I can play but one almost isn't worth the time , other than I get my fix , the other is awful poker , more like gambiling , but if u catch cards its easy trap the donkeys

anyway from Wednesday to sunday I have no action and ive lost lots of money on Friday nights playing at the casino , where I don't belong ,

if I lose I get furious its an awful feeling I get sooooooo mad and really that is where the problem is , my anger , because I emjoy poker , if I cAN PLAY hands and stick around fro a bit , losing $20-60 is fine by me its when I lose more than that or if I get awful bad beat real early tht pisses me off

I know I cant be the only one with this problem

shed some light people

sounds to me like you should quit before you really lose more than you can afford.

maybe you need to study a lot about poker .. play by play as you'll always have to lose money and rely on luck, which ultimately serves no fortunate one. you have to read a lot and watch videos of poker, analyze your game, strategy, etc. ..

The worst thing you can do is play in a casino if you cant keep away from roulette.
or if your lucky enough to have Giant stakes for cash games.

In the past I would lose maybe 60 quid on roulette when I was young and dumb.
then I'm playing 50NL which is kinda like 200 NL with donks who dont know bet sizing.

and I just lose value respect for the money.. its like Even winning a 60 quid pot wouldnt feel rewarding cos id be evens.

That = Bad

Also HP you have a problem with your temprament, You need to Reset your mindset and destroy all those urges to gambleb fast and hard,

Reality is players dont get rich playing cash games live, without patience and orginisation.

Most players win a big tournament and invest time into becoming better and end up good enough to hang around for a while

Until you control your emotions nothing will change. Maybe poker is not for you. You should quit for 2 weeks then quit for good if you cannot handle the swings of poker. But is seems that your are gambling and not really playing poker. Best of luck.

if you do well in tournaments, then stick to those. I suck ass in cash games. I but out just about 7/10 times I sit down at one. I don't get why bc I am relatively successful at tournaments live and online.
So I just don't play cash games any more. It sucks but it's the smartest choice for my wallet and profit.

Remember why you love poker, and it is mainly entertainment. Not saying it can't be profitable, but to expect it to be is self delusional. Also NOT saying you can't learn the game to improve your 'situation' to the point of it actually becoming profitable, but drop the expectations and instead remember that you love the game.

Most members have pointed out that you need to control your temper, and that is one thing that will draw you back more than anything. You will want revenge, your money back, and 99% of the time, it just gets worse. Controlling one's emotions is probably the hardest thing to do for most players, as at times the "donks" can really set you off, or, getting drawing hand after drawing hand, and missing nearly all of them. a lot of players will not throw them away, regardless of how much it is costing them. Maybe it is time to back off for awhile, most of the time that helps a lot.

Quitting isn't bad option, if you delete this from your life it won't be end of the world, you are hoping that this lifestyle will give you money and life you want, but you will only lose everything.

In life where 95% loses and 5% earns you are not the one who is even trying to crack the code or anything, as you said addiction.

If you leave this life and think of another ways, things, jobs - most important words from people who recovered after destroyed life, they said if they would followed another path(education for one, job for another) they would been so much happier

consider just quitting, because it is going to get only worse

im not quitting guys ,

I have set a list of guidleines for my play however ,

ABOSLUTLELY NO CASH GAMES AT THE CASINO EVER

IF I FIND A BAR OR HOUSE CASH GAME , MAX ILL TAKE WITH IS $50

IF I ON THE RARE CHANCE DECIDE TO PLAY A CASINO TOURNEY KEEP THE BUY IN UNDER $50

THATS ALL

I cAN HANDLE GETTING SCREWED OR JUST NOT GETING CARDS AND OVER LOSING $20-50 , ITS WHEN I LOSE MORE THAN THAT IS WHEN I GET FURIOUS , I HAVE A TEMPER PROBLEM REGARDLESS , SO THATS NOT GONNA GO AWAY , IT JUST NEEDS TO BE DIALED DOWN A BIT , AND I THINK OIF I LOWER THESTAKES I PLAY AT ILL BE ALRIGHT,

TONIGHT AT MY WEKLY BAR TOURNEMENT I GOT SOME INFO ON OTHER LOCAL BAR GAMES , SO IM GOING TO START FRRQUENTING THOSE AS OPPOSED TO FEELING THE NEED TO GO TO THE CASINO TO PLAY CARDS , (BTW OUR LOCAL BAR GAMES ARE LOW STAKES $20-50 TOURNAMNETS OR .25/50 CASH GAMES SO I CAN ANDLE IT IF THEY DONT GO WELL ,

As one smart man said, "First step to solving a problem is admitting you have one". In my advice you should work on your skills as much as you can, i mean by reading poker books, strategy forums like CardsChat, and do it as long as you learn to control your addiction. Best of luck to you!

Maybe not quit altogether, but quit for a while, say, a couple of weeks, and see how you feel. Enjoy other things in your life and try not to think about poker.

Then begin to play again, from time to time and in small buy in tables to see how you are feeling and take it from there.

First of relax.
Live cash game, play only the stake you can afford.
Live cash game, just stay TA all the time.
Live cash game, play the people and less on cards. Thats why you can have a tremendous advantage if you have deep understanding on poker tells.

Good luck.

I just look for another activity. It's quite simple, if you don't have time to spend playing the games you don't do it, so look to fill your time with something else, something more important.

When I lived in Atlantic City I had a similar problem. Not that I would play until I was broke but I'd sometimes spend all day at the Trop at the detriment to other things that needed done(mowing grass, etc.) What I started doing was determining an amount I was going to buy in for, before I went. If I was playing stud and buying in for a hundred, I'd play half or double, so when my buy in hit $50 or $200 it was time to go. It's really easy to do this when you live somewhere that you have easy access to a casino, and you can get there pretty much whenever you want, as opposed to someone who has to do some travelling to get there, and feels that if they leave it is going to be a while before they can get back to play.
