How do I pick myself up? I'm mainly a SNG + MTT player and just hit the biggest rough patch ever. I tilted away $100 from a $240 bankroll. It was so bad that I excluded myself from playing for awhile. I'm just looking for some general advice about how to go about playing again when I come back (if i even feel like playing again). How do I get into a good mindset again after being on tilt?

You have to find what works for you. It will be different for every player. I find that when I just can't seem to win, I spend alot of time here or reading books and articals on poker. Reading the bad beats section helps to reassure me that the poker gods are cruel to everyone from time to time and I really dont need to drink goats blood or something to get back on my game. I know a player that when ever she gets tilted, she goes to a different site for a while and "donks it up" (her words not mine). After a few days of getting her butt kicked she leaves the dark side and comes back to her game. She says that it helps her unserstand that she was beat by luck and nothing else.

re: How do I pick myself up? poker When Im going through a rough period I usually switch games. Ill go from NLHE to OMAHA H/L or RAZZ. Ill mix it up playing lower limits. I wouldnt recommend this to everyone though. Particularly if you dont know the other games. You just have to have faith that it wont remain this way and that things will get better. That is if you have studied and really analyze your game continuously. Try to be more specific in where you have lost your money. On the river. Are you coming in with the best and getting bad beat? What is your range of hands that you are playing with and from what position. Be honest with yourself. Study, study, study,

tilted tis seems to happen to all of us.It seems like todays player is a lot bolder than the days of old. All too often we find ourselves losig a flopped straight to that 1 or 2 outer or runner runner . It seems as though the part of the game called hand protection has been pushed to the edge of the road.I say fret not.You will be back and when you return your game will be stronger.Try not to play a different game than usual(Always stick to the gameplan you have set for yourself). In time if the gods allow you will be back in the mula lol. gl in future felt rompings.

Stop playing for a while. If you want to play again play sng's with 3 % of your total bankroll and play hold em with about 5 % of your bankroll. If you don't go higher you can try to rebuild your bankroll.Shouldn't go any higher because maybe you will tilt again and lose all.... Gl

This is what helped me..I`ve read a few books before, i started playing tight.. did ok , i got to the money but never to the final tables.. I started reading more about opening my game.. Eventually i started playing way too loose without realizing it.. And i started losing even more.. By a chance i came across my old HOH book. Its pretty much basics for a good tight gamer. I read it and right away i started playing better. I`m not sure if this is just a good streak or i improved my game. I just realized how much role does a position make. I did not realize it before i read the HOH the first time. I mean i knew the position makes a difference, but some how i did not implement it in my game. So now I improved my preflop game and i`m doing better. Im still lacking in my postflop game. Any advanced player can get me of a lot of hands since i play a bit cautious and tend to fold to aggressive plays unless i`m holding the nuts and that does not happen all the time, so i know i`m losing some money here and i need to impove my postflop game. I wish i was as good postflop as Daniel Negreanu... so my conclusion... when you start going on tilt and start losing money, relax, grab a book or too, read the basics once again and start playing. Youll be surprised how many mistakes you are doing and you forgot about them.

re: How do I pick myself up? poker Wow - lots of great answers. Sometimes even when you do everything right you get your butt kicked. I usually stop playing at that site for awhile and go to another. If I am still getting my butt kicked ... then I step back for a bit and try to remember that there is life outside of online poker. I make sure that my wife hasn't left me and I try to remember my kids' names. Just remember that at some point things will turn around. It just sucks until then.

Play lower limit cash games. Once you can win regularly then work your way up steadily. Tourneys are too volitile and should be played with only excess profit from cash games. That's your bread and butter. Don't play the tourney before you make the buyin first. If you can't win the buyin before, then your mindset won't be there for the tourney. Poker is about money. Tourneys are an afterthought to see who is better at that time with players that have some much money from cash games and is treated as status. Relying on tourneys is frustrating and causes you to be vulnerable to people' s biases. Cash games require skill to win. Achieve that first and everything else is easy.

you just need to get that confidence built back up. as already said play the small s&g's at first. if you are any good at heads up, then play some of these. you will get a couple of wins under your belt and all will be good. good luck blackjack.

re: How do I pick myself up? poker I always have to take time away from the table when i catch a bad beat or have someone make a ridiculous play to beat me. The thing is, if you dont get sent to the rail, you have to remember that youre still in the tment. Just take a breather, or in my case, hit a bowl and try to forget about it. You cant go back and try to win all those chips right back which is usually where ppl end up going broke-trying to do it all in one hand by making a crazy bluff
