How did you start playing poker? I used to play poker with friends years ago, it was like omaha, but not exactly the same. About 3-4 months ago I found a good poker game called governor of poker. I played a lot with that game and later I searched online games and rooms cos I wanted to play with real opponents. Later I started playin with real money and the game became much more exciting. Thats how I started playing again.

re: How did you start playing poker? Started playing home games about 5 years ago, would play $5 SnGs of Hold Em winner take all. Started playing a couple times a week and then we turned it into an almost everyday occurrence after getting out of work. Didn't do to bad in those, one semester in college I was so broke I lived off those games. Would try to have $5 left to go get in a game on the weekend, would usually have the $50-60 I needed to get thru the week when I left.

I had the best and worst of both worlds. Ages ago, b4 I knew about any poker sites I learned to play 5 card draw at Pogo.com. I still think 5 card draw's probably the best way to learn and one of the funnest variations of the game. It can also be even trickier than NLHE provided you have a good opponent or two.

My grandfather taught me how to play 5 draw when I was maybe 8 and that was all I knew... then a friend of mine showed me how to play texas holdem about 5-6 years back and we played $5 games about 4 times a week with 9 people... didnt know anything about strategy but we kept stats and had 'seasons' that consisted of 85 games... I ended up winning the 3rd season with something like 18/7/60 ... which is roughly like a 30% itm rate
