| How Did I missplay this hand If at all ? Scenario - SNG with 45 ppl $2.20 on full tilt. My chip stack at start of the hand in question was 6340. I had accuired this at the start of the game by calling a dbl all in with pkt aces. and surviving via ace on flop. Second orbit I knock out a short stack and show ace q to tbl. (villian ) had arrived just prior to this to balance table. He proceads to steal blinds thru two orbits. I`m on the button with ace king. (villian`s) stack had increased from approx. 5200 to just over 6400 . He took out a short stack with a garbage hand that he had raised with 10/7 off suite when this hand comes up. utg folds, +2 folds,(villian)utg+3raises to 640 as he has EVERY HAND with out fail. That seemed to be his "maijic"# to raise to. +4 folds, +5 folds,+6 folds, Now It`s my turn, Figured him to be rasing again with trash I reraised to2440.. sb folds, bb folds , villian flattens. Flop is rainbow k2j, He checks, I shove .. He calls and turns up 3d 3 sp , 8hrts turn 3c on river. I had been looking for a spot to get this wild lag guy off of his chips or a good percentage of them . So help me out guys , wtf did i do wrong here? Perhaps I should`nt have "pot committed" myself , but I damned sure don`t understand how Anyone could make that call with two overcards to your pocket pair on the board for 98% of your chips there. But he did make the call and I get busted triing to dbl thru the guy. |

Your problem is that you worry too much about the results of on hand or one tournament. Run the hand through PokerStove and see how you make out over 10,000 hands. Better yet look up the guys stats on OfficialPokerRankings and see how bad he is. 10:1 he didn't even make the money in that tourney. Players like this are like drunks on the road. |

| Well, that is poker! Nothing wrong with the way you played the hand, but luck was not on your side. But you can't let a bad result here or there throw your strategy. If I have pocket aces, I'll call pre-flop all-in everytime, but sometimes I will lose the hand. |

OP, pat yourself on the back. You got a complete donk (over-aggro spewtard.... the ones you'll often find who play with mindless aggression, not even knowing why they're betting)..... to put his stack in as a HUGE Dog. You couldn't ask for more. |

| Something else to consider (perhaps?), alot of players assume that other players are thinking along the same lines as themselves (ie. in this case with villain.... he probably pot shoves flops that he misses & assumes you do as well). I will often play a bit more conservatively vs. a spewy player like the one in your example (ie. I'd be 3-betting alot of villain's but this guy, even though I know he's opening wide, I'm more apt to just flat pre with stacks of this size (~40bb deep I'm assuming.... the blinds are at 80/160.. no?). This way I've potentially got a 'big' hand that is a bit more concealed & increases my chances of villain bluffing off a bunch of his stack. Also, I'm going to miss the flop 2/3 of the time & if I bloat up the pot, leaving myself a pot-sized shove left for the flop, I'm risking the potential of getting bluffed off the best hand when villain also misses. Also, my stack is quite deep for this stage of a 45... & I don't think I need to be stacking off vs. the spewtard (ie. if I 3bet this big here... am I snap-calling if & when villain 4bet shoves?.... by just flatting a player like this I can avoid this). (If it were later stages I'd be gladly calling off a 4bet shove w AK). That ^ said.... in reality the approach you took actually turned out far better.... as you were able to get villain to committ all of his chips while you were way ahead. You can't get it any better than that. |

| re: How Did I missplay this hand If at all ? poker u were just a victim of a bad player that got lucky if u shoved he was calling only thing that might of worked is to flat his call and he might of gave u credit most bad players that steal alot feel that most 3 bets are steals son he could of saw u as weak plus u made him put half his stack in so he wasnt going any where so i think a flat then ur bets might convinced him to fold with a minimum lost. but no u played it right really cause u were playing the player and thats what skilled poker players do ur read allowed u to get ur money in good and thats what u did u got what u wanted just luck fell on his side u shouldnt regret that cause ull win there 92% of the time |

Sorry I misrepresented what I was trying to say. Me personally would not want them to fold but OP seem to wish they had if only in hindsight. Of course that brings me to the other thing I read which helps me. If you knew what they had would you want them to call or not? |
