House Game Tip Please

The cardschat family has been very helpful so far and I need help on another Home game related subject. There are a couple of games in my area so the down side is Im kinda force to play at places with low buy ins . I usally like 200 and up but those games are normally on certain days. The question I have is for this game I go to which has a 40 dollar buy in, blinds are 1 and 2 dollars. My question is how do I win here. I've played tight and still I struggle to come up. The house cuts 1 dollar for every 8 on the winning pot ( if I win a 24 dollar pot , Ill take 21) After a while when I look around there isnt much money on the table. Between the blinds and house cuts It seems the money is gone and Im in a posistion chasing all night. Any advice?

Don't play there a 20bb bi limit is crazy.Once you add in that high rake soon there will be no money on the table.

INDEED, find another game. Or host that game at your house and take the rake for yourself, you'll make more being the house over playing.

That game's a bad deal to play. You don't have enough potential winning out there on that table. Couple that with the high rake and everyone is basically paying the house to get together and chat around the cards. Thats fine if you want to pay to chat. Not so much if you are looking to win...

I was playing games like that. I then realized that the money to be made was hosting them. Set it up at your place, lower the rake and throw some freebies in, (soda and stuff), have wife or girlfriend run it and watch your pockets grow fat from winning and getting the rake.

Thanks you guys , you all have been saying what I have been feeling. Im a firm believer of getting other opinions before just giving it quits. You guys are right about hosting my own games but people around this area are ( creatures of habits) they go to the same places, and don't like changes. I think Ill just go to the more poker like games. I just like playing poker a lot and these games are more available ( daily) I rather just catch the real games then lose money though.
