High Stakes Poker

Did anyone else see the High Stakes Poker episode that aired on 8-27? I just watched it from my DVR and the whole 7-2 prop bet thing made it amazing! I don't watch much poker on TV anymore because it has gotten boring but this episode was incredible. When Phil bluffed Mike out of a $50,000 pot to start it off I knew the fireworks were going to fly.

high stakes poker is my favorite poker show. the 7-2 rule seems very interesting, i might try it next time i play a live game. the guy that bluff off 100k with 7-2 at the end of the show is such an idiot. can't wait for the next episode

What i don't get is why they are getting themselves involved in like $200,000+ pots with 72, just to win 5K if they do win the hand.

Probably because they all have a God Complex and think they can push anyone off of any hand if they play their cards right.

Ego. People rapped on Phil Hellmuth's abysmall performance last season and now he is a GOD after one hand of HSP. Everybody wants to be the guy who makes the other fold KK in a huge pot with nothing. The 5k is only an added benefit.

You can see other players trying to pull off similar stuff in the earlier seasons when there was no 2-7 rule (Brad Both raising Phil Ivey's KK for 300k with a gutshot for example).

HSP is by far the best poker show on tv just because of the sheer money on the table. I enjoy the table talk too it can get quite interesting! Last year I remeber when Brad Booth sat down with 1m infront and bluffed Ivey off his KK that was soo Sick!! I have been looking forward to HSP the whole summer and finally it has arrived!! The 7-2 is very interesting...I think Antonio explains his view in the episode itself.
