| re: Help with the poker terms Maybe you should read about BRM first. Start here: Bank Roll Management Also read the 2 links from AlienGenius' post there. |

| Nah, i read it. I realize i shouldn't be playing in $10 games yet, But i've played three so far and came in 1st twice and bubbled on the other game on a bad beat. I will stick to $5 games even though i am about 25 times the entrance fee. I am that confident in my skills. I've been placing in the money at about a 7/10 ratio. I've been finding it way too easy. |

| Blah, I've played live poker a lot at house games and prolly played about 40,000-50,000 hands of free online poker on xbox live. And i've read a lot of the books and apply a lot of the principles. $5 games is just fine for me, for now. Last edited by chainfire98 : 19th June 2008 at 8:52 PM. |

| Free poker is basically the same on xbox live. You gain play dollars through winning tournaments and the more you win, you can advance to more expensive buy-in tourneys. The higher tables, people usually play like it's for money. People are competitive and don't want to lose. I've seen less donkies on xbox live (higher tourney's) then in cash poker games online to be honest with you. Last edited by chainfire98 : 19th June 2008 at 9:07 PM. |

$5 sng's are fun but 3rd place is just your entry fee and like $4 profit. second place isn't bad with around $8 profit. and 1st is about $18 profit. But 4 bucks or 8 bucks for a 45 minute tourney is not too great. Hopefully can build my BRM so that i can play $10 games and actually make decent money for finishing in the top three! |

| Any concerns with your level of skill came when you did not know some easy poker terms, and when you said you were new to real money play. Obviously these assumptions were wrong. There is no reason to show any of us up, we are just trying to help you out. Although you are having great success along with your great skill, variance will kick in and you will lose, no matter how good you are. The reason we use bankroll management is when we do start losing, we minimize our losses. Sure, we are building our bankroll a bit slower than we would like to, but we are really minimizing our losses whilst using bankroll management. I fully encourage you to keep us updated with your recent success. |

Thanks. I've played for money at home games and a few tournaments at local sports bars, stuff like that. But i've been watching poker on tv, reading poker books, talking on forums. Pretty much breathing and eating poker for quite some time now. And i've played countless hands of free poker on xbox live. Just not used to the terms that the online poker community use. You'll never hear them over the microphone on xbox live! I understand the concepts though. I still have lots to learn, but it's going good so far. I understand BRM and will be using it to continue to hopefully be a long-term winner. |
