Help analyzing my stats Okay, so after losing nearly my entire BR plaing SnGs I decided to switch to ring games, didn't think I had much of a chance with a total BR of $2.76 but have now managed to get this to $25.46 playing $5nl. At the same time as starting my foray into ring games I started using Poker Tracker and here's my question. I currently have ~2500 hands in Poker Tracker, is this enough to give me a clear view of my playing style and to start looking for holes in my game? If so what can you tell me from the following stats, do I appear to be doing well, room for improvement? And the one that I really don't uderstand, is an AF of 1.63 Aggressive or not? 20.14/9.86/1.63 W$WSF 51.45 BB/100 14.6

A clear view? No. A "current" view, yes. I am sure some elitist poker types are about to chime in with "unless you have 50,105,000 hands in your history this information is worthless" but don't listen to them. 1st - Come on man, make a deposit and don't stress about such a minuscule bankroll. 2nd - The $5nl game is more like "coin flip fever" and even at $25nl you don't see a totally serious poker game. 3rd - Look up the AF ... it's debatable as to how helpful that statistic really is. The BB/100 is pretty high, but for these stakes and the reckless "stack for stack" play it's solid. Your VPIP and PFR is higher than the normal range for a TAG player, but if your style is LAG then your numbers are a little low. Your AF is low too, IMO.

Unless you have 50,105,000 hands in your history this information is worthless! seriously though, which type of ring are you playing 6max or FR. You seems to me to be limping/flat calling to many pots whether your playing 6mx or FR. You do seem to be a little passive and your definately seem to be on a heater afaik.

re: Help analyzing my stats poker Okay thanks guys, so tighten up a bit and be a bit more aggressive? Had a look at Poker Tracker and my BB/100 is actually 16.63 so yeah maybe a bit of a heater. Bit suprised to hear you say that I limp / flat call too often. I hardly ever limp in I normally raise 4 -5BB, not sure about post flop, so I'll look out for flat calling, although I like to do this when I know I have them beat and then raise on the river. My range is 10-10+, AK, AQs, AJs and 2-2+, 5-6s+, AQ, AJ, AXs in position do I need to tighten that up?

OK then here's what I think. If your playing 6 max then playing with a vpip of 20 is fine. Playing with a PFR of 9 is not good. It means you are limping/calling 50% of the time you enter a pot. You need to get your PFR upto around 15-17. At first this will seem extremely hard to do, but with practice you should be able to adapt. So if you have stats of 20/17, it means that you put money into the pot 20% of the time. with a pfr of 17 it means you are raising 17% of the time you enter a pot. Therefore you are more aggresive PF. If your playing FR, then I personally think a vpip of 20 is too loose. There are more experienced FR players here who can advise on optimum stats for uNL FR. Probably 12/8/3 would be good. It seems more of an accepted practice to limp from EP when playing FR so your PFR could be a little lower.

re: Help analyzing my stats poker I agree with Jagsti on all his previous comments, that's good solid advise and you'd be wise to take it. As far as your range of cards go ... man that's a toughie. If you want to spend 3000% of your bankroll, I do highly suggest the Harrington on Cash Games Book 1 at the very least. he talks about mixing it up really well and what cards to play. You'll see TAG players raise from MP with 66, and normally you'd think that was crazy ... but you really have to be aware of implied odds and pot control and a bazillion other theories to put into place

22+, SC's 56+, 1 and 2 gap SC's, QT+, KT+, A9+, suited aces etc. In position I open most of these hands. EP then I may limp occasionally and open as well. I'm not saying you should adopt this, but it gives you an idea of the hands you could incorporate into your game if you think your playing too tight. And another thing play quite tight from EP, premium hands, mixed in with some smaller PP's. |
