Heads Up!

Last night, I played in a Heads Up Freeroll Tournament for the first time. I got to tell you, it was great. I enjoyed playing it. You don't have to wait for nine other player to respond, the gameplay is quicker and you're constantly concentrating because it's just one other player so you're odds are so much greater. You can bluff successfully more often. Anybody else play heads up tournments or heads up in general?

I've played one heads up tournament and it was dreadful - once you completed your first round you had to wait until the last of the other rounds had finished (which was ages for me as I always won really quickly!). Spent much more time waiting for next match than playing. Did yours not work like that (16 going to 8, to 4 etc?).

This is a part of the game I really don't enjoy that much. While there is some strategy involved, heads up can really suck when you get a prolonged series of lousy cards. Yes, you can represent a better hand but you have to be vary careful. This is a very necessary skill and I'm getting better, but I really don't enjoy heads up play that much. I like to be active as well which is why I prefer 6 seat to 10 seat tables, more going on forces you to think and act quickly...

I enjoy a heads-up game myself every now and then. I have to make sure that I'm on my game though, with no distractions (physical or mental). But I love the pace! And Dave, the beauty of heads-up is that you can play lousy cards! You have to be so much more aggressive in heads-up...playing these can really help your bluffing game!
