Have You Ever Noticed....

..that when you get pocket pair, so does someone else at the table and sometimes multi-people, thats why I just limp in. I really like to see the flop no matter what the pair is.
..that when your sitting in a hand for example there are alot of K's and 9's on the board, sometimes I'm dealt the K 9 the next hand. On these occasions obviously depending on whether i'm in the blind or not I automatically fold, those K's and 9's are not coming again.
...that last week I was pretty sure I had an Ah Ad and on the flop the Ad came and I was ready to report it, then I realized I had Ah 4d, at that moment I noticed I should be wearing my glasses.

Is this another case of "simple statistics"? Or is it just rigged?

Guess I've not noticed those things before. Must be rigged.

Okay, in all fairness, I've done this before in live games. Peeked at hole cards saw two aces. Raised pre-flop. Flop came with an A that I thought I was holding. Sure enough, i double checked and sonofabitch it was a $ in my hand. LOL....recall still winning the hand, albiet a little differently than orginally planned.

lol, don't worry about it. It's just similar to a topic of discussion that has come up a few times and, for whatever reason, spurred some heavy debate.

Aloevera, I think the guys are just confusing your story with the "evidence" people sometimes post about online poker being rigged.

But you're right -- the stuff that I notice in online poker often makes it seem rigged.

In particular, I feel like when I fold a crappy hand that hand hits the flop hard (eg, I fold 53o and the flop comes K53 or something). But mentally, I realize that it just looks that way because whenever the flop comes AKQ on my 53o folded pre-flop hand, I don't notice it.

Right On Beriac, I was just noticing stuff as playing, I'm not a book worm nor am I into poker strategies very much. People may laugh but I take my wisdom from this forum and all that has been taught to me and go out into the world of 100's of thousands of people and I do my best to apply what I have learnt, but honestly it is my gut feeling and notes on players that improve my game. I can't live without it.

Nice. They say that we only use and understand a small portion of the brain, and to follow your gut instinct because that is apparently just the part of your brain that we do use but don't fully understand. So maybe it sees things that your might consciously miss.

Personally, I think that trying to understand some poker theory can only help to train your gut instinct to improve, but I see where you're coming from.

Whoa!!! It's like your my soul poker player mate lol. But seriously if you make notes on players because you are on the same site time after time, and you know 75% of those players because of notes, than you really do have an advantage, and I can prove it, if anyone can check my stats at costadel.

I didn't like how I ended that post, I can''t take screen shots cause of my comp. And I have won over 450 Euros over at costadel, and yes alot of it because I learnt here but there still has to be a gut instinct based on the hand, if he is bluffing, am i in the blind, how many players left. how much money am I playing for, is this a ticket to the next round, do I care. lol I hope you get my point.

I play the same way - only my notes aren't as beneficial since I left paradise and at the other sites don't often run into the same people. Hopefully will be able to play at Costa soon!

The only problem I find is that I play a lot of multi-table tournaments on Poker Stars, which has a billion gazillion players, and I find I seldom run into them twice and even then, they're based on sparse experience.

Anyone have any success taking notes on players on the bigger sites?

I agree. I've based my experience on Costadel and some other sites as well 4-6thousand people at a given time and I do run in to them alot. At pokerstars I don't know if my little strategy would work as well based on like you said there is a gazillion people. Maybe if I was there 24/7 I would run into some here and there.

It used to seem like wehenever I had a high pocket pair someone else would have a smaller pair then hit a set on the flop. Lately my high pairs have held up except for QQ. I swear to God that hand is a curse for me.

You guys notice things like that, I use to but it started affecting my game so I chose to ignore the fact that I folded 2-2 to a 7xBB raise just to see a 2 come on the flop, and put it in my mind that I made a good fold.
