| Have Russian players taken the TAG style to a new level??? Hello. This is just a bit of fun. Most of us in the past thought the Scandinavian players were very TAG, but don`t know if it is me and because I play a lot of PLO8, but I think the Russia mainly, but Eastern European players have taken it a stage further. It is almost stupidity rather than fearless. If someone pushes all in with a hand that has about one out and it is an obvious one out, I don`t need to check where they are from. Could just be me, but I might be wrong. Last edited by Ronaldadio : 10th February 2009 at 12:20 PM. |

Also, Russia has about 140000000 inhabitants, i would expect some variety in the way they play poker. But maybe i just lack good generalization abilities? And finally, i don't like polls where cake is not an option. |

TAG = Tight Aggressive - A player who plays big hands and plays them hard. LAG = Loose Aggressive - A player who sees lots of flops/ raises with what most players would call junk, and bets when checked to a lot - plays the players more than the cards. I didn`t look this up, but what do I know. |

| re: Have Russian players taken the TAG style to a new level??? poker yea i completely disagree with any generalization of any type of people, not just poker lol. Just because somene is Russian or German or whatever doesn't mean they play a certian way. I do get what your saying though, and can't really confirm that because I hardly ever bother to check with where the people im playing with are from. |

A few months back it seemed that the newest additions to the 'craze' were from So. America - Brazil, etc. What has surprised me is that even with the Asian poker tours and new casinos being built in that area, we havn't seemed to see a huge increase in 'Asian' players. That may be next, but I doubt they will be as 'laggy'. |

| re: Have Russian players taken the TAG style to a new level??? poker This is kinda dumb...but since you did it I'll answer you. I'm Russian myself. I'm also, actually a very loose player for the most part...so...there's your answer lol. It all matters on what game structure and everything if they're anywhere DECENT poker players. |

| Like many of the Brazilians, yes the latest increase of Russians are very LAG.This obviously doesn't mean you wont find LAG's from any country but some produce way more than others.Russians and the East Bloc seem to be the newest additions to that club. Sadly, there's a lot more of the 'hope and a prayer' strategy happening and it's coming from all over. It's like a bad virus spreading where any 2 will do and throwing all caution to the wind regardless of what they're holding. This isn't limited to freerolls either. |

| Interesting that while watching The world cup of poker ll on tv today, Annie Duke @ ss pushed all in late with AJ, after tanking for a while Alex Kravchenko called with 78 os and sucked out. Was she pi$$ed and commented while leaving the table "Russian mathmatics to call with that". Personally, I seen fish play from every country the worst being an all in push with a pkt pr to a flop of 3 over cards, no idea where he came from, it's irrelavent |

| re: Have Russian players taken the TAG style to a new level??? poker First off I want to thank Ronaldadio for clarifying TAG and LAG for me. Second it amazes me that everyone pays that much attention to where there opponent is from. I take notes on players but I promise I write nothing of their origin. It just doesn't seem like vital information. |
