Has anyone ever folded KK preflop?
This is a very interesting subject, i am just wondering here if anyone has ever folded KK preflop, and the situation that you were in to do that. I have heard pros discuss this topic before and would like to hear your views. On a buble situation i can understand but from my POV i cant fold it if not in that position.

at a final table, with a Raise and a Re-raise, before my turn, plus there's been some calling from other players..... probably fold.
in early stages of a tournament, preflop? I would stick with it. |

one situation i might-
high buy-in tournament, getting deeper into it with a healthy stack, and theres a raise-re-raise, followed by an extremely tight player coming over the top. I would have to have a read that I was pretty confident he wouldn't do this with QQ. |

some of you need to be reminded that the original question was PREFLOP
obviously all of us have seen an ace flop while holding cowboys... anyways.... this caught my attention because this happened to me the other day at a final table...... I was on the button with 8 TIGHT players left.. all of a sudden therz FOUR people allin in front of me...all of which were smaller stacked... I knew there were rockets out there but figured I'd at least get more than i put in from the other 3 players that didnt have them... I call... Bigstack SB goes ALLIN... lol... holy crap I'm WAY too deep so I gotta call... turns out we all had great hands... but the SB had the rockets and busts all of us... funny thing was only top 3 got paid.. |

Yea folded KK pre-flop once ever. It was in a live game and Mr Never raise p/f actually raised ahead of me. Id seen him limp with KK QQ AK etc, and id never actually seen they guy put in a p/f raise. I folded, some other guy shoved, and Mr tight shoved. Yep AA, the all-in dude had QQ !

Funny that this question is asked. The other day I came home and my wife was playing the 180-sng at Stars (easy money, I wish I had time to play it). There was 20 left and she had enough chips to place when she got dealt K/K. She raised 4X the blinds and some guy pushed all-in, she was going to fold when I yelled at her to call, I told here the guy had A/K and was down to 3-outs which is what you pray for in poker. A win would have put her in the top-5 and a chance for the big money. She reluctlantly calls and he flips over A/K and catches an A on the river. She was so mad at me for the rest of the day that I transferred her the $8.00 that she would have won for placing, lol. Like tenbob say's, you really have to have a read on a guy to fold K/K preflop, post-flop is a whole nother story.

I have done it twice in my life. Once I was right in a cash game when the we got into a reraise match preflop so I let it go and he was nice enough to show AA. The second time I was in early position late in a tournament and raised 4xBB. I got called by the next two people and then someone goes all-in and got a caller before it is back to me. It was close to the money and i was medium stacked so I let it go because of the two people left to act. I did not want to be all-in with a 50% chance to win or less. I did the right thing since the two behind me called. Between the 4 people my other two K's were gone. AK AA 88 and K 10 sooted (first one to go all-in).
Wish I have layed them down more after the fact. I have lost KK vs AA way to many time to think it is funny anymore. |

nah dont think i ever had, one time i was at a table that had 4 all ins and the cards ended up being AA KK JJ 10-10 rediculous the JJ caught a strait and i had KK. But no i mean its so hard to think your beat with second hand in the game, if i was playing really high limit i might of thought baout it but KK to quad up is hard to pass up.

agreed. Folding KK preflop is probably one of the toughest things to do. Although i find every single time i get hit with KK, there always seems to be an ACE to hit the board, and i just get this feeling in the pit of my stomach

I love this question, I could not see ever folding pocket kings preflop unless there are alot of people at the table all in pre-flop. If you get pocket kings and fold me prflop becasue of a reraise that is rediculous, maybe dont come over the top after the reraise but see the flop. What if u catch a king? If and ace comes up might want to fold then! This guy I was playing against raised pre-flop and had pocket Ace's I had Pocket 7's he did not raise enough so I called. Caught a 7 and he pushed all in called and took him out.

I've played most of my poker online, so I don't really get the chance to get that good of a read on someone to actually put them on aces.
what i mean is, say in a tournament, you both have big enough stacks for several reraises worth - if a tight player were to raise from EP then i reraised him, and he pushed the rest of his stack - then i might consider it. In the tournaments I play, most of the people at the table don't have enough to show that re-reraise all in, so generally I'm going to call them. It's also the fact that in the tournaments, people will push with AQ type hands, so I have to call with KK. In cash games, I've never had the opportunity to have to lay down KK, but I'm sure if a tight, strong player were to make a big reraise I would have to reconsider playing the hand. So to answer the question, no I've never layed down KK preflop ![]() |

i have never folded kk preflop. or yes i had, but was a accident.. lol... But i have folded AA when i have seen the flop etc. That was hard, but if you play a tournament and the cards are KK1010 and he went all in. What would anyone else do?

No i havent ever folded KK pre-flop, its just to hard for instance the other day i played in a tourny at full tilt it was an $17,000 guarnatee, first hand i got dealt KK in the big blind a guy in middle position raises all in every1 folds to me. What was i supposed to fold (yeah right) anyway i called him he flips over KK same hand needless to say he took me out with a runner runner flush. That really sucked first one out of the tourney.

Never folded kk preflop. Maybe somethimes didn't raise, or only called a raise, and if an ace came down the board, and someone bets hard, then maybe i folded.
But never when i play little money. A k would ever come out!!! |
