| Hall Of Fame So its time to induct a new player into the poker hall of fame. who do you think should be next to be added to the list of greats. Such as David "Chip" Reese, Doyle Brunson, "Amarillo Slim" Preston and Johnny Chan just to name a few. |

| A lot of the obvious choices are already in. I would go for : - Dan Harrington - Erik Seidel (maybe a bit too young still, he'll get there) That's about it, many great players are either too young or haven't really contributed to the community enough (IMO poker hall of fame isn't only about pure poker skills) to be considered yet. |

| coin flip between Seidel or men nguyen. Nobody hardly mentions men, although his achievements are awesome. i dont like Harrington as a choice, he hasnt won enough titles. and besides those books of his, i dont see that much of a contribution to poker by dan. I really don’t like the Cunningham, ivey, or Daniel group either because although their results are very impressive, they’ve only been around for like 10 yrs. |

An example would be Dan Harrington vs Jay Heimowitz. They come from the same background (both were mayfair club regulars). Heimowitz has won 6 bracelets to Harringtons 2, but not many people would say induct Heimowitz before Harrington. Harrington has left a bigger mark in the poker world in my opinion. I agree that all others are too young. |

| i kinda lost u with the Jay Heimowitz comparision because hes not in the HOF. http://www.wsop.com/pokerhalloffame/ i guess ur trying to say that bracelets shouldnt be the only judgemental factor in being elected to the hof and thats right it isnt. i dont think jay is the best example to use though lol. jay really hasnt done anything in the last few yrs. his wins are very good but they come like every 5-10 yrs it seems lolol and they are too sporadic to show he dominated the scene. same with harrington. he won the the main event -unreal and also won another bracelet in 95, but besides those final table appearances in the last 5 yrs at the ME hasnt done anything. ooooh he got that wpt title which is awesome but still its just 3 titles and a few final tables. and u really couldnt compare him to some1 like tomko whos in the HOF and who has a similiar tourn record at the wsop to dan because dewey has been one of the best hi stakes cash game players for yrs and yrs and yrs . . .lolol. i just dont see dan doing enough, like promoting poker or doing something else and hes never really dominated poker for a nice time span. he dominated in 95 then he had those 2 awesome runs at the ME final tables like ten yrs after the main event win but where was he inbetween those yrs? but maybe im missing something about dan harrington. but his tourn record doesnt seem like a valid reason to get into the HOF right now. |

| I know Heimowitz isn't in, don't think he should be. Just comparing them because of their similarities and the fact that based on bracelets, Heimowitz is clearly more qualified, but that just isn't the case. I know what you're saying, but I'm sticking with Dan Harrington. I mean his books are among the best selling poker books of all time. To be honest I'm not a huge fan of the idea of hall of fames anyway. It's was fine to start with but people just go crazy after a while, I mean Tom Dwan was nominated last year. |

But... The bracelets he's won were in a very limited # of player fields & it's like that expression "what have you done for me lately", where has he been since 83? ![]() I still have to go w/ Seidel or Ivey |

Number one in my book would be Chris "Jesus" Ferguson followed by Ted Forrest, and Howard Lederer. They are the ones I remember the most that I don't think has made the list yet. Thanks for the reminder and good luck at the felts. |

| I don't think its a matter of deserving it for Ivey. It seems that being inducted to a Hall of Fame should be something that happens later in someones career. That being said I would take Greenstein, Harrington, and Sklansky. I can't imagine Sklansky not making it eventually with all the books he has put out. To the person who said all main event winners should make it. Why the hell would anyone want Jerry Yang or Robert Varkonyi in there? I think Moneymaker will make it someday though based on what his winning did for the game. |

| re: Hall Of Fame poker Bumped this thread up because the finalists have been chosen and are the cover story of the latest issue of CardPlayer magazine. The following newsclip by Holly HIntze appeared in the most recent Poker Player: "TEN POKER HALL OF FAME FINALISTS Ten names are on the ballot for the WSOP Poker’s Hall of Fame class of 2010: Chris Ferguson, Barry Greenstein, Jennifer Harman-Traniello, Dan Harrington, Phil Ivey, Linda Johnson, Tom McEvoy, Daniel Negreanu, Scotty Nguyen and Erik Seidel. Votes will be cast by the 16 living Hall of Fame members and a 17-person media panel. The top two vote-getters will be inducted, assuming they receive a majority of the vote. Mike Sexton was 2009’s lone inductee, and the 38th member elected since the Poker Hall of Fame was established in 1979. Haley Hintze is a freelance journalist who closely follows all the doings in the world of poker." |
